In this page we will try to make a small presentation of
our beloved village. The elements that we will use, are taken from
the book of Mr.Rizos. One brilliant co-villager.
The village Rovoliari is built from the very old years in the N.W. department
of Fthiotida, in the borders of Homeric Fthia and archaic Dolopia
. It leans his backs on the Agrafa`s mountains and its
apron in the western department of Orthris.
It abstains from Lamia ,roughly 50 Km (National street Lamia-Karpenisi. Its altitude is about 750m .It is constituted from 4 quarters:Ag. Apostoloi,
Alexejka, Misiak, Ag.Georgios
The archaic Rovoliari, was found built in his continuous department
of village, where today exist remnants of graves and walls, in the place Lomparda
and Tsagkaraki.
Definitely, the lack of written records for the old village(Rovolias)
they impede the documentation of historical valorising opinion. Of course having in our
disposal the wealth of the archaic objects and all the later
types from the Byzantine season, the years of the Ottoman domination , the period after the revolution of
1821 and all the types of the popular culture of the Rovoliarian
society of 2 last centuries, we can unconditionally formulate
the following historical conclusions :
1. Our village functioned as a settlement from the years before Christ, in the place: Castle of Ag.Paraskeyi-Lomparda-Tsagkaraki, unknown with which name.
2.Our village continues existing in the years of Byzantine empire
having in his parametric beam and certain individual settlements as:
the Avlouva, the Fotis mpostani, the Lita, the Selina, the Pipilia and the Katifilia.
3. In the years of the Ottoman domination the village Rovoliari functioned
as a flourish community, accepting the effects from the neighbouring
region of Agrafa`s mountains.
4. The very old ecclesiastical types and the 2 very old books
Printed in 1603 in the Enetia of Italy.
5.The consent and the recording of the village Rovoliari in the table of city’s archives , from the French sightseer Poukevιl in 1810, it reveals
that our village was a big community with 3 populous districts at that season.
6.Many written documents which we have afterwards the revolution 1821
as:a)The table with the full names of our co-villagers fighters in the revolution of 1821.
b)The table with the full names of the alive people in captivity
afterwards 1821.
c)The official list of the male of rovoliarian people community from 1821-1830.
d)The registrated authorisations of marriage.
7. Documents from 1838-1854 of payment of tax to the municipality of
Varimpopi Makrakwmi for all the heads of domestic animals and taxes
for the agricultural fells in our village.
8. The old currencies that were found occasionally
in the region of Rovoliari, constituting important testimony that our village
was indeed a settlement. In the region of Avlouva were found currencies from
the season of the Fillip of Macedonia.
9. The lot of churches and the different old pictures that we collected,
are constituting historical elements from the previous times that acted and
created this society.
Our association
The former chairman of our cultural union was the schoolteacher
Papatheodorou Ntinos, who had the courage and the time margin in Athens
to runs for a lot of work and to activate also the members of the rest administrative
council.
Nowdays,our chairman of the culture union is Mr. Tomas Nelas,also a schoolteacher.
The offer of association from 1980 and afterwards, was very important
in a lot of activities. All the villagers, with the dear
Compatriots, seeing this activation of our association , offer many
and thus his operation as a cultural-social institution is not only managed
in the seal other in the substance of things.
Beside this, the state
Contributes with a lot of ways the last years, the cultural associations
and thus their social and cultural offer becomes righter and
more efficient. Of course, our association is from the oldest
Activated associations in the basin of Attica and it approaches
today to reach his 50 years of operation.
