Something... But we don't know what.

*sunday, november 25

Yesterday was my mum's birthday, and I didn't even get her anything. The reason? Too much shit to do (and an appointment on Tuesday). You'll notice the part of my sentence in parentheses is one I often say after the words "shit to do" because it's from an ani poem I once had to memorize in grade 8 and have since then.

tiptoe thru the used condoms
thrown on the piers off the west side highway
sunset behind the skyline of jersey
walking towards the water with a fetus holding court
in my gut
my body hijacked, my tits sore
the river has more colours than my sock drawer
ever dreamed of i could wake up screaming sometimes but
i don't
i could step off the end of that pier
but i got shit to do and an appointment on tuesday
to shed uninvited blood and tissue
i'll miss you
i say to the river to the water
to the son or daughter
i thought better of i could fall in love
with jersey at sunset
but i leave the view to the rats
and tiptoe back.

So that's that... you know she's amazing, even if you don't like her stuff. But what I don't understand is how those who like M. doughty don't like ani... Zoom Zip sounds like half the songs on Up Up Up Up Up Up and just the same sorta idea and loveliness.

Saturday was such a strange day... I find that marching band music, maybe any music on a lyre (the thingy that attaches to your trumpet) is ... weird... because you can't really avert your eyes because it's right in front of your face... and it's so easy to get lost in the christmas carols... and just think about nothing... particularly when you're marching down highway 7 with the rest of the marching band and it feels like some weird dream. I didn't even get to sleep afterwards because stupid Spanky came at 1.30 to keep me awake when he was supposed to come to wake me up at 3. Goddamn. Today was fun because I got to sleep and I did some work on my english isu which has been the main thing (other than music) on my mind... But perhaps I'm neglecting other subjects. I've been really into my music lately, I practiced twice in the last week which is absolutley insane, given that I never practice. This is the time we're upon.
