Since you've come here to my personal profile page, I assume that you want to know about me, so here comes the speil. Warning: this could prove to be rather boring :) Anyway, here goes ... I'm 25 years old. I live in Herring Cove, which is a little fishing village just outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia. In August I returned from over a year of living in Manchester, England. I would probably still be there but my work visa ran out and I didn't want to work under the table for fear of being caught and never being able to return.
I had a boyfriend over there, Gary Doyle, and we were planning on getting a sponsorship for him to come over and work, but he's decided that the distance and time apart has been too much. Word of advice: even when you belive with every fibre of your being that your relationship will survive and flourish, long distance relationships *never* work. Don't even bother - it's much more painful to drag it out. At this point we're good friends - we became too close not to be. And I'm friends with his brother Kevin, who is slightly younger, more sensitive and occasionally brooding but otherwise alike to Gary. Both very top guys! :D Anyway, they're from Liverpool. Gary works (along with my good friend Kristin and some *wonderful* Brits) at the best bar in the world, Fab Cafe (after you turn the light on, select the Manchester link on the Radio Times paper).
I recently started working at TeleTech, a customer service centre for Nextel (an American mobile phone company). It's all right - one of the better call centres I've worked at. It's not a career or anything though ... I'm just not quite sure what I want to do with my life. I was thinking about massage therapy because I like helping people feel better and it's decent money. However, I'm not sure if I can dig rubbing the hairy backs and arses of people I don't know. Ew. At the moment I have hardly any idea what I want to do. Yoga classes, Reki training, Tai Chi, maybe open a restaurant/bar with my friend Kristin. I don't know. Feeling kinda lost. I'm sure I'll figure it out in good time.
Ok, more stuff ... I like cooking up herbal remedies for friends. As I mentioned I was thinking of studying massage therapy at Northumberland College starting next autumn. I haven't completely ruled it out - I like all that hippie crap. Heh. I like everything. I'm an ecclectic in the broadest sense of the term. I mess around on the guitar occasionally, and I also muck about with the Irish flute, flute, maraccas, percussion, etc. Mind you I don't excel in any of these, but it's fun when I have the time. I've had a few years of music theory and voice lessons too.
I like to cook and invent new recipes, and I'm proud to say that I'm good at it. I speak French, a fair bit of German and Spanish and a smattering of Mandarin, Greek, Russian and Italian. At one point in my life I had wanted to be a translator, then I was after a career in technical film and theatre. I even went to film school. I took a location sound course from the Atlantic Film Co-Op, I've worked on many short film and TV shoots such as Trombone Troubles, Me and June, A Tale of Two Grudglings, After Dark TV, etc. I've done a lot of volunteer theatre work as well. I love everything about theatre from being onstage, to watching, to MLXing, to ASMing to designing sound, and so on. I've done many different shows, working in the booth and in with art department for Windsor Theatre on the Mount Allison University Campus in Sackville, New Brunswick; I spent a whole season doing sound and various other tasks with Shakespeare by the Sea, an outdoor theatre company based in Halifax. As well, I've done many shows with the Theatre Arts Guild which is the oldest active theatre group in North America (correct me if I'm wrong!).
More stuff ... I like to draw - mostly doodles. I like to walk outside in a thunderstorm. Collecting knick-knacks is a habit of mine ~ I call them knick-knacks, some would use a less delicate term - junk. :) I used to be a raver back in the heydays of the Halifax rave scene. I'm still always up for an outdoor rave/festival - there's usually such a great vibe.
I love comic books/ graphic novels, especially: Generation X, Lenore, Transmetropolitan, The Sandman, and Preacher. Up until the recent freeingup of $1,500 CDN due to Gary's decision to stay in old blighty, I hadn't been able to afford a console since the used original Sega Master System I got years ago, and still have. But YAY! I just bought a PlayStation 2! : D I only have 3 games so far: Silent Hill 2, Rachet and Clank (which I love) and Final Fantasy X (which I have yet to crack open). I already know that I need Gauntlet and Worms because I love to play them on my friend Bec's console.
As for PC games, I like Diablo series, am interested in getting Everquest (although this site makes me retch at the commercialism) and Dungeon Seige, am addicted to The Sims, stuff like that ... oh yeah did I mention I like role playing games? D&D 3rd edition is my fave so far but I have many more to try! Uhmm ... I like using my imagination ... this means that I often drift to outer space whenever the wheels begin to turn ... Anyway, If you want to know more of what goes on in my head, e-mail me!
