Petition To Re-Legalise Cannabis/Marijuana/Hemp In Ireland.
THE PETITION
Calling for the immediate re-legalisation of cannabis/ marijuana/ hemp - the removal of cannabis/marijuana/hemp from the Misuse of Drugs Act and other prohibitive legislation - and an immediate halt to the prosecution of people for the possession, cultivation or supply of cannabis subject only to the necessary restrictions needed to ensure quality and cleanliness of supply.
DESIRED OUTCOME
To free cannabis/marijuana/hemp from prohibition thus enabling its full utilisation for all beneficial uses and research - for medicine, relaxant, fuel, fibre and food. This would lead to the solution of many of the major serious problems facing the world today - drug addiction, expensive medication, hunger, pollution, poverty and the black market. It would put the control of essential resources into the hands of local communities rather than multinational industrial corporations.
WHO WE NEED TO INFLUENCE
We need to influence Mr. John O'Donoghue, T.D, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, 72-76 St. Stephens Green, Dublin 2, Ireland.
The Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform is at the centre of the Criminal Justice System - the Garda Síochána (Police Force), the Prisons and the Courts. As the Minister in charge of the Department, John O’Donoghue is the member of the Government with political responsibility for these elements of the Criminal Justice System. As an integral part of that brief his Department is also responsible for public policy in relation to crucial and sensitive issues such as national security, law enforcement in respect of all criminal activity, treatment of offenders, immigration and asylum issues, to mention a few.
HOW LONG WILL WE CAMPAIGN
Until there is a change in Legislation or the petition reaches its natural conclusion.
