Chapter 12Taylor whistled as he looked at Ashley's car. "That is one sweet car."

"You like it?" Ashley asked, patting the roof.

"Sure do. When do I get my first official test drive?" Taylor asked, grinning.

"When you get your license," Ashley replied.

"3 months, Ashley. That's the life expectancy of your new car if you hold to your word," he said.

"As long as I don't have any ducks around, I don't think we'll have any deaths," Ashley said. Taylor glared at her.

"It's not my fault Jeeterz ran out in front of me!"

"Keep telling yourself, Taylor," Ashley said. "You are so in denial."

Taylor just rolled his eyes. "So, take me for a ride, anyhow?"

"That was kind of the point of me driving over here," she said.

"Oooh, yeah," Taylor said, nodding. "So..."

"Get in!" Ashley said, laughing. She jumped into the driver's seat, and turned the key in the ignition. Taylor got in as well and put on his seatbelt.

Ashley pulled out and began driving down the suburban streets of Tulsa. "So, how's Danielle?"

"She's okay," Taylor said. "But, I've been thinking about, you know, dumping her. Rumor has it that Sydney Cranford is interested in me."

Ashley rolled her eyes. "You're so fickle. Don't you get sick of playing girls?"

"No," he replied.

"Don't they ever figure out what you're all about?"

"Hey! That rhymed! You should become a poet, Ash," Taylor said. Ashley shook her head.

"If you weren't my friend, I'd have to whoop your ass," she said.

"Please don't!" Taylor exclaimed. "I know you'd kill me..."

Ashley laughed. "I'd come to your funeral. Don't fret."

Taylor reached down and turned on the radio. "Oooh..." He began to sing along with the radio. Ashley stuck a finger in her ear.

"Quit it, Taylor!" she screeched. "You're tone deaf!!!"

Taylor laughed, and then began to point frantically. "Hey! Hey! Stop there!" Ashley looked where he was pointing: a diner made out of an old railroad car sitting on the side of the road. She pulled into the parking lot. The sign on the front read: "Caboose Cafe".

Martha giggled. "That's when you met Bev!"

"That's when we met Bev," Ashley confirmed, smiling at the memory. Beverly was Martha's sister, who worked as a waitress at the Caboose. It had quickly become hers and Taylor's "spot". They went there together all time time, usually along with a mess of their friends. And, of course, Taylor's latest girlfriend.
