"Taylor," Ashley said.

"What?" he asked, looking over at her briefly, then back at his video game. She was climbing up in his closet, pulling something off a shelf.

"Play Mad Gab with me," she said.

"No Ash."

"Pleeeeeaaaase," she begged.

"God, you're being whiney today," he groaned.

"So. Deal with it. You go first," she said, handing him the box.

"Ok," he said, picking out a card. "Gay Man Hop."

"Ummmmm," she said, thinking hard. "Taylor."

"What?" he asked, looking up.

"I said 'Taylor'," Ashley said, brushing her hair out of her face. "A gay man hopping would be 'Taylor'."

"Why must you always insult me Ashley? Can't you find something more interesting to do?" Taylor asked.

"It's fun, and no," was Ashley's reply.

"Well, could you insult me in the other room?" he asked, dropping the card back in the box and going back to the video game which he had paused.

"Ummmmmmm.....nope," she said, crawling up behind him.

"Why don't you go over to Jenni's?" he asked. She sat her chin on his shoulder and put her arms around his neck.

"Let me see... could it be because I hate her?" she asked.

"I'm going over to Mary's house. You can sit her by yourself," Taylor said suddenly.

"Who's Mary?" Ashley asked, just as suddenly dropping her arms from around Taylor's shoulders and abandoning her idea of strangling Taylor nearly to death.

"A girl," he replied, saving his game and getting to his feet.

"Well I kind of figured that. I mean why are you going over to her house?" Ashley asked, watching him walk to the door.

"She asked me to," he explained.

"Does taylor have a crush?" Ashley cooed, laughing.

"No Ashley. We are mearly friends of the opposite sex, the same as you and me," Taylor told Ashley, annoyed.

"Is she pretty?" Ashley asked, pouting.

"That is none of your business," Taylor snapped.

Ashley folded her arms over her chest and rolled her eyes.

"Yes, Ashley, she is very pretty and I have the biggest crush in the world for her. Are you happy?" Taylor asked, exasperated with her childish behaviour.

"No," she replied.

"Well why not? I just told you everything you wanted to know," Taylor said.

"I'm not happy because now I will have to go over to Jenni's," Ashley said.

"Why don't you just go home?" Taylor asked.

"Mom is at work and I don't have my keys," she informed him.

"Well I'm already late. Have fun at Jenni's," he said turning off his bedroom light, leaving Ashley alone in the darness.

"Did you have fun at Jenni's?" Martha asked.

"Not really," Ashley said. Actually, she imagined it wouldn't have been so bad if she had been in a good mood. She was still kind of hurt that Taylor had just sort of LEFT her. Taylor had never done that to her before.

"Did Taylor really like Mary?" Martha asked.

"You could say that. She was his first girlfriend," Ashley said, leaving out the fact that she got the information from - who else? - Jenni.
