Spells are sure to be one of the interesting ingredients in Diablo II, just as they were in the original Diablo. What magic you can use depends only on what character you choose to use.

Healing Some mana in exchange for some life
Whirlwind A strong fast wind that strikes all the squares around the character
Zealotry Lowers speed, but boosts attack strength and hitpoints
Enchant Makes a targeted sword burst out in flames, and makes other weapons magical
Glacial Spike A cold spike that freezes the target
Summon Blood Golem Creates a Blood Golem, a mindless mass constructed for fighting
Wall of Bone An impassable wall with tough hitpoints
Control Monster Temporarily turns a monster into an ally
