Geraldine Estelle Halliwell, who has been dubbed The Artist Formerly Known as Ginger after she left the Spice Girls in May, used to be known as the fiery, red-headed leader of the Spice Girls.
Geri left the band in May, for reasons we have yet to discover, and has just signed a major record contract. She is now a United Nation goodwill ambassador and has changed her former wild look and style into a more sophisticated, toned down one.
Althought she was the most popular Spice Girl when she was in the band, she was often criticized by the public about her voice and weight. Well, her voice was fine, and her weight was fine, but she has actually slimmed down since leaving the other girls and setting off on her own.
Most people would hardly recognize Geri anymore, now thought of as Ex-Spice or Ex-Ginger Spice. Her hair, which was a bright, fiery red, is now a more blondish red, and her tight-fitting, bright-colored outfits are now loose-fitting, neutral colored ensembles.
So what's Geri's next move? Nobody really knows. Geri doesn't really stay in contact with the other Spice Girls, although she was seen one time having dinner with Victoria and David, bringing along George Michael, whom, at the time, Geri seemed to be hanging out alot with.
Geri made a surprise appearance at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards, presenting Best Video to Madonna, and even tricked the tabloids into thinking she was taking up Scientology.
Everyone is always saying how they miss Geri and wish she'd rejoin the band, but I really don't see the use in whining about it. Sure, I'll miss her being in the group, but I can't really miss her. I mean, she's all over the place and we always know what she's up to. As for rejoining the band. . .well, I think it's great that Geri set out to find out who she really is, and wish her luck in everything.
