But there is a secret. Members of the Souma clan turn into an animal of the Chinese Zodiac when hugged by a person of the opposite sex. Even if you're not a shoujo manga fan I recommend this series.
Gunnm*Yukito Kishiro
Volumes 1-9 {End}
The main character Gally who is part machine, fights to understand the purpose of her life. This manga is an emotional rollercoaster. The art improves as the manga progresses.
Hajime no Ippo*Joji Morikawa
Volumes 1-60
A boxing manga! I never imagined I would enjoy it so much considering I don't have any interest at all in Boxing. The main character Ippo starts boxing to understand the true meaning of being 'strong'. I was amazed at how well the story and art was put together. It is simple and exciting to read.
Hikaru No Go*Yumi Hotta & Takeshi Obata
Volumes 1-17
I think one of the best manga series out there. A fun, exciting, educational, manga about a board game called 'Go'. The art is incredibly detailed and beautiful to look at. You are sure to like it. Hikaru No Go is currently finished at 23 volumes.
Ingenuo*Ryan
Volumes 1-11
A Taiwanese(?) manga about a romantic relationship between a girl and her photographer teacher. Love triangles, crushes, and hidden pasts. I'm sure for many shoujo fans Ingenuo will become a favorite.
Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale nochi Guu*Renjuro Kindaichi
Volumes 1-10
A strange pale girl named Guu enters Hale's life one day. She can change her looks at will and swallow people, and large objects, only to be able to spit them back out whole. This strange girl turns Hale's life upside down, and the most frustrating part is, he seems to be the only who notices anything strange about Guu! A humorous manga series about the strange adventures of Hale and Guu.
Kindaichi Shonen-no Jikenbo*Seimaru Amagi & Yozaburo Kanari & Fumiya Sato
Volumes 1-39 {End}
Kindaichi seems like a pretty average, lazy, clumsy boy to everybody. But in reality Kindaichi has an incredible IQ of a 180 and is the grandson of the famous detective Kousuke. He solves complex murder cases that the police have trouble solving. A really interesting manga series that is a lot of fun to read.
Mahoujin Guru Guru*Hiroyuki Eto
Volumes 1-10
The king of Kodai is offering a reward for anybody that can defeat the evil demon threatening the land. The main character is Nike the somewhat reluctant warrior and Kukuri the sorceress who uses an ancient magic called 'Guru Guru'. Together the two of them have many adventures, like fighting monsters, learning new magic, meeting new people, etc. I thought this manga was pretty silly. It had me laughing outloud several times. It doesn't hold back from making fun of itself, and things stay lite hearted. The art is very simple.
Mahoutsukai Ni Taisetsu Na Koto*Norie Yamada & Kumichi Yoshizuki
Volumes 1-2 {End}
I was instantly drawn to this manga by the beautiful soft artwork. The story is about a girl named Yume who comes to Tokyo in order to train as a magician. By meeting different people and 'feeling' what they really desire in their hearts, she learns what it takes to become a certified magician. A very touching story.
