As Howie and AJ went up the elevator, it was dead quiet. Howie couldn't stand it. He looked over at AJ, seeing the look of anger in his eyes, wishing he hadn't looked. What'd I do to make him so angry? Is it something having to do with Mandy? Is he just pissed off and wants to blame me for it? Many questions ran through Howie's mind, wondering what the answers were. He was getting very worried. As the elevator came to a stop and the door opened, AJ pushing Howie right out the door into the hallway and into AJ's room.
"Why did you do that?" AJ asked, teeth grinded together, anger burning feriously in his eyes.
"What'd I do man? I mean, what are you so angry about? This is the first time I've ever really seen you this angry."
"Then what were you just doing with my girlfriend? Huh? Answer me that!" he said before Howie could answer him, " Ha! I bet you can't answer it! Now what are you gonna do?"
"I'm gonna tell you what really happened."
"NO!!! You're going to tell me why you were kissing my girlfriend!!!"
"That's what I was gonna say, anyway."
"JUST SAY IT ALREADY!!!"
"Okay, here it goes. I woke up before all of you guys, so I headed down to the lobby to get some breakfast, and I saw Mandy. Mandy said that since we were the only ones awake, we mine as well have breakfast togather. So we did. And then I said I had to go and get ready, she asked me for a good bye kiss. So I gave her one on the cheek. Then she said she wanted one on the lips, so I did as she said. Then I left and here I am," said Howie with a deep breath after he said it, 'cuz he had said most of it in one breath.
"You know, that was pretty good one D., but I'm not gonna buy it. No way. That's just too lame. Mandy would never want a sheep kissing her, now would she? No. My Panda only kisses me, and you know it."
"But... but... why... how..."
"Stop studdering. Now you're gonna pay," AJ said, anger in his raspy voice, as he locked the hotel room door and Howie prayed silently to himself that he would make it through this moment alive.
Nick and Kevin both came walking down the hall for breakfast. When they came to Brian's door Kevin said,
"Do ya think we sould wake up 'Rok? I mean, I think he's been sleeping in too much lately."
Nick looked at him in suprise.
"Who cares! We don't have a show today thanks to AJ, and if he gets lotsa sleep, he gets lotsa sleep."
As they walked bye Howie's door: silence. Dead silence.
"He's probably already in the lobby. He's always up early," said Kevin, looking down at his watch. "Let's go wake up AJ."
But when they got to his door, at first they heard silence. Then they heard a loud raspy scream.
"YOU ARE SO GOING TO PAY FOR THIS!!! WHY DIDN'T YOU THINK ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU DID IT? HUH? YOU DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER. YOU SHOULD BE SHOCKED!!! YOU DESERVE TO GO TO HELL! HELL!!!"
Kevin stood there in shock, Nick leaning close to the door to hear what the other person in there would say. There was no answer. The other person hadn't spoken once.
"What are you going to do about this, Howie?"
When Nick and Kevin heard the name Howie, they started to pound on the door, yelling at AJ to let them in.
'Why would AJ be screaming at HOWIE?! Kevin wondered, still having no idea that AJ always did this when he was out clubbing.
There was dead silence in the room after Kev and Nick had started pounding on the door. Brian came out into the hall still half awake, in only his boxers, and his hair was all muffles up.
"Hey. What's happenin'?" he asked grogllily, reffering to the noise in AJ's room. Nick eyed Brian carefully.
"AJ's yellin' the shit outta Howie. Why?"
"AJ's what?!"
"You heard me."
"Nick, couldn't you be more concerned?" Kevin asked sharply.
"Why should I? It's none of my business."
And with saying that he walked into the elevator, pushed in some buttons, and the doors closed.
"What's with Nick? Kev, there's somethin' happenin' with AJ, Nick and Howie. Something I don't get. D.'s always got a flash of anger in his eyes, Nick never cares about anything anymore, and AJ is just horrifying. I don't get it."
"Me either kid. Me either."
And that was all they said as they parted into their own direcions. Backstreet wasn't going to last much longer, and all of them knew it.
