Chapter 5

When they got back to their hotel rooms, they were all exhausted. It had been a hard day. The next day they would be leaving for Japan and they'd be doing 7 shows in 9 days there, then they'd move on to Australia, so they all needed to get some sleep. Alot of sleep.

The next morning when Brian woke up, he found himself staring at the ceiling in silence. There wasn't a sound anywhere. Nothing.

'I wonder why it's so quiet. Aren't we supposed to be getting packed to leave at 9:00?'

He looked over at his alarm clock, and it said 8:45.

"Holy shit..." he mumbled, because he only had fifteen minutes before he had to check out of the hotel.

He dug into his bag and pulled out a blue Nike shirt and some baggy jeans, and he started stripping to take a shower.

' I hope I don't have to wake up the guys...'

Back in AJ's room, he and Nick were talking about girls and sports, and how the Vikings whooped the Dolphins. Kev was packing his stuff into the bus, and was about to order some breakfast for himself. Howie was laying in his bunk in the bus, staring at the ceiling. Just laying there. Not moving, barely breathing.

A half hour later they were on the way to the airport. They all had to wear weird diquises. Howie had to put his hair in a ponytail and keep a baseball cap low over his face, while Brian did the same, AJ had on a long sleeve shirt to cover his tattoos, which he hated, and a baseball cap, while Nick and Kevin wore the same.

On the plane, Nick and AJ were next to each other, and behind them Brian and Kev, and in the back sat Howie in the back alone. He was kinda happy about that because he could lay down on both seats. They all sat in silence on the plane, until Brian asked,

"What happened to us?"

Kevin looked at him in shock.

"What do you mean what happened to us?" he asked it even though he knew they weren't the same, he just didn't want to be yelled at by Nick or AJ.

"You know what I mean, Kev."

Kevin just looked at him. All the guys looked at Brian with no expression on their faces.

"I don't get it," Nick chimed in. "I mean, we're still the Backstreet Boys! We still do good music! We are still a group! I mean, come on! We made it pretty far!"

All the guys looked at him, knowing what most of what he said was true. Except the part where he said they were still a group. That was only half true, but the fans had no clue what was really happening. Lou always made them seem happy at shows and interveiws, even if they were in  fight right before the show. It wasn't like he cared. He was just like Johnny Wright. He only wanted their money. That was why Johnny left as being their manager. But they couldn't fire Lou because he could fire them, too. And they sure didn't want that to happen. So they stuck with him, but now they couldn't even straiten out their fights and they were being pulled apart because of it. It was all Lou's fault they weren't Backstreet anymore. Lou. If only he'd leave. Forever.

None of the boys answered Nick, so he decided to take a nap. AJ was really bored so he started to write some poetry. Brian and Kevin were reading, and Howie was sleeping in the back. When they got there, no one still said anything.  They were all mute. When they reached the hotel in Japan, they all walked into their rooms and thought for the rest of the night.
