'Cute smile,' I thought as I left my room and went downstairs.
"Dad, who lives next door?"
"The Kelns. Why?"
"Do they have a son."
"Yeah. Jakob. Why?"
"No reason."
Then Sholanda came into the room. "I know why," she sang. I gave her a look and she stayed quiet. About ten minutes later we left.
On the bus, the introductions were started.
"Guys, this is Sholanda," I told them. We were all sitting by the TV.
"Hi," she said.
"Hi," said Brian, sitting down next to her. "I'm Brian."
"Brian remember Leigh Ann," I told him.
"I know. I'm just being friendly."
"I'm AJ." He sat down right across from her. "Where are you from?" he asked, flashing his best flirt smile.
"AJ," I warned. "You guys are going to suffocate her."
"Drew," Dad said. "Be quiet. You're cramping the guys flirting space."
"I'm not flirting," objected Brian. "I'm just…."
"We know B-rok. You're being friendly."
Seeing that he wasn't going to win this, he turned to Nick.
"Wanna play Nintendo?"
Everyone else groaned as the two of them set up a game.
"What's wrong with Nintendo?" asked Sholanda.
"Nothing," Howie told her. "But they play it all the time.
"I like Nintendo," she told him. Sholanda turned to watched the game in progress.
