On the morning of the fifth, we arrived in New York. Sholanda had gotten a taste of the fans from the put stops we had made along the way for autograph sessions (really exciting stuff. Really) It was the norm: screaming, fainting girls who would give anything to shake one of the guy's hands.
We got to the hotel around noon and then headed to the MTV studios.
"This is sooooooo cool!" I couldn't help but squeal as we walked in. Sholanda nodded.
"Glad to see you here," someone walking towards us said. "Who's this?" she asked, glancing in the direction of Sholanda and me.
"This is my daughter Drew and her tutor Sholanda," Dad told her.
"You mean the rumors are true?" The seven of us nodded. "Would you mind being on the show for a few minutes?"
"Me? I don't care. Why?"
"The fans are curious," she said matter of factly. "You wouldn't believe the email we've received after report the story. It hasn't slowed for two weeks. So, Dad, what do you say?"
"As long as Drew wants to."
"I'd love to," I told her.
"Great!" she said. "People! We have another person to put makeup on and get ready. Hurry up!"
All of the sudden, about a dozen people appeared to whisk us away into dressing rooms. While they got me ready, Sholanda quizzed me on my knowledge of ancient Egypt.
Then the show started.
