Chapter 11

Author's Note:the next few chapters will be told in third person instead of first.

The next day, Kevin walked into the hospital and rode up the elevator to Drew's floor, whistling Sweet Child of Mine the entire way. When he got to Drew's room, it was empty. Where was she? She didn't have chemo or anything.

Kevin went out into the hall to look for a nurse. One was coming towards him.

"Excuse me," he called out. "Do you know where Drew Morris is?"

"Drew Morris? Oh yes. She was taken to isolation late last night."

"What? Why?"

"An infection, I think. Would you like me to take you up there?"

"Would you?"

"Sure."

Kevin followed the nurse up to isolation in silence. He thought back to when his father had died. They had put him in isolation only a few days before he had died.

'Please God,' prayed Kevin. 'Please don't let Drew die.'

When the reached isolation, the nurse lead Kevin to Drew's room. He looked into the window and started to cry.

Drew was lying on a bed in the middle of the room, looking completely helpless. 'So different from last night,' he thought, remembering the big smile he had seen when him and the others had come in. There were tubes up Drew's nose and an IV in her hand.

"How is she doing?" he dared to ask.

"Not good," the nurse told him.

Kevin just stood there for a few more minutes. Then he sighed, pulled out his cell phone, and started to call the others.
