Chapter 16

So the next morning, Dad, Brian, and I flew to Kentucky.

"So tell me, Dad," I said. "What is your family like? Are they all as weird as Brian?"

"Hey!" objected Brian.

I flashed him a smile and turned back to Dad.

"Are they?"

"No. Brian's probably the weirdest one. I think you'll like them."

When we landed in Kentucky, we had to rush out of the airport in fear of getting mobbed. There had been a rental car arranged and after we found it, we headed for my new grandma's house.

When we pulled up, an older woman came out of the front door. She looked nice.

"That's your grandma," Brian told me.

"Kevin," she said, hugging Dad.

"And you must be Drew, my new grandchild," she said smiling. I nodded and she hugged me.

"You make me feel so old. I mean, having a sixteen year old grandchild."

I laughed and the four of us headed for the front door.

Grandma started to tell me about what they had planned for my stay and she also started to tell me about the family. When I walked into the house, I could smell cookies baking and hot cider. I smiled. I had a feeling that I was going to like being a member of the Richardson family.
