Chapter 2

Two years later (my, how time flies), Leslie and I were in Nick and Aaron's room playing Nintendo. The guys were going to be back from their tour any minute. Leslie went to the kitchen to get something to eat and I walked over to Nick's drum set and started to fool around.

After a couple of minutes, I noticed Nick come in but I ignored him. I knew he would just be making sure all of his stuff was were it should be. When I stopped playing, he was staring at me.

"What?" I asked.

"I didn't know that you played."

"I don't. I was just fooling around."

"You're kidding. That was really good."

That led to Nick giving me drum lessons which led to guitar from Brian and Howie and then bass from AJ. I already played the piano so Kevin couldn't teach me that. He was the one that did all the sports with me. All of them taught me basketball. They were like dads since my step one was always gone. Once, on bring-your-daughter-to-work day, I went to the studio with them.

Then, during the summer of '97, my parents were going to be on a trip for two weeks and Brian, AJ, and Kevin, who were sharing a place at the time, convinced them to let me stay at their place. I even got to go to LA because they had to do a music video.
