Chapter 8

I was diagnosed in late April. What a way to end the school year. The guys noticed that I was run down a lot and other things like that so the told my parents to take me in for testing. Everyone else found out first. The doctor just wanted to talk my parents but the guys insisted.

"Mr. and Mrs. Morris, everyone, I'm sorrry to tell you this but Drew has leaukimia," the doctor told them all, her face grim.

Mr. and Mrs. Morris didn't seem the least bit moved or shattered by the news. Kevin instantly started to cry and some of the others did too.

Dr. Breen was shocked. She had just told a 15 year old girl's parents that their only daughter had a serious disease and they had no comment. It was only the friends that felt sympathy.

It was Kevin who came and told me. We both cried and he told me that they were going to start chemo very soon.

"You have to beat this, Drew," he said before he left. "I can't lose someone else I love to cancer."

I nodded and he left.
