Chapter 1

Brian sat up in bed by an ear shattering crash. He figured it was just something outside or his imagination, so he laid back down and eventually fell back to sleep. A few minutes later, he felt a jerk and he rolled from one side of the bunk to the other, then another loud crash. He leaped out of bed and trudged down the bus hallway. He looked at the microwave clock, which read 2:47 a.m. He groaned and walked up to the front seat, but didn't see what he'd expected.

All the windows were shattered and all over the seats, and the bus driver was laying on the floor under the dash, eyes rolled back into his head and had a large cut down his throat. Brian screamed and collapsed.

Kevin awoke at his scream and jumped out of his bunk. He ran over to the hida-bed in the back where AJ was and shook him.

"AJ... Come here. I heard somethin'!"

"It was probably just one of your weird little mirage thingy-mu-bobber's you've been having."

He pulled his sheets over his head and rolled over, but he couldn't get comfy.

"Fine AJ. You just sit there and be lazy. As ALWAYS!"

"Whatever Train."

He rolled over again and again, but couldn't fall to sleep. He figured he'd just see what Kev's crazy little illusion was. He tried sitting up, but he couldn't. He was too tired. 'Man, I feel like someone dropped a giant penguin on me! Man, that'd sure be weird though.'

After a couple tries, he managed to get out of the low bed, now almost sunk to the floor by all the weight it had carried over the years. He tripped on all the magazines and movies that were scattered around the floor while trying to get the big comforter blanket out of the closet. He felt something sharp jam into his heel and gasped, grabbing his foot. He heard a loud scream from the front of the bus and dropped his foot.

He ran down the hall, but tripped on Nick's G-I-Jo and flew to the wooden floor.

"What the hell..."

He pushed himself up and continued to walk down the messy hallway, slowly this time. He walked past the microwave and saw the time. 3:14

"Wow..."

He walked up to Kevin, but found him staring ahead in shock with his jaw dropped. He waved his hand in front of his face.

"Yo Kev, what up wit you man? You look like you've been through a Friday the Thirteenth movie!"

He continued to stand there. AJ rubbed his blurry eyes and looked ahead. Now he could see it. Brian laying on the floor unconscious, the bus driver laying under the seat, and all the shattered glass.

"Kev, snap out of it! We gotta help 'dem!"

"Right."

He managed to move his feet that were glued to the floor for the last ten minutes, and squatted down, patting Brian's face gently.

"C'mon 'lil buddy! Wake up! Please 'lil 'cuz?"

After having no success, he walked over to the sink, damped a towel with ice-cold water and placed it on Brian's forehead.

AJ walked over to the bus driver and felt his pulse.

"Kev, bad news."

"What could be worse?"

"Nick in a bikini would be pretty bad... I hate to break this to ya... But... Okay, don't freak out... But we're standing next to one dead dude!"

"Shit... Okay, we can't start balling our eyes out now. Hey, try to figure out where we are."

AJ looked out the front window, and saw a tree directly in front of them. But when he looked past it, it was his worst nightmare. He could see the moon shining off the sharp rocks below them.

"Kev, I hate to say this, but we are in DEAD trouble."

"Why's that?"

"We're at the edge of one hell of a drop."

"Huh?"

"We're about to fall off a ravine."
