Chapter 13

Kevin picked up Howie and casually walked into the dark tunnel. He slowed down a little once his eyes adjusted.

The place was filled with cobwebs and dirt, weird things hanging from the 'ceiling,' slimy blobs on the ground, sticky fungus on the walls, and other strange things. He didn't want to know what they were. All Kevin could think about was the horrible smell.

He walked and walked and walked and walked, and after what seemed like hours of walking he came to another two tunnels. One east, the other west. From what he guessed, anyway. He shrugged and shifted Howie with his weight. He started to walk into the West tunnel. After about five feet, he stopped, staring at something on the ground.

A big black blob of some sort. He found a rock and tossed it onto the black thing. After about ten seconds, he heard it clatter to the floor. He quickly turned around and went into the East tunnel. He walked and walked and walked and walked. Then he stopped again, but this time there was nowhere to go. It was a dead end. He sat down and laid Howie somewhere near him.

"Well, this is interesting," he said mockingly. "I wonder what Brian, Nick and AJ are doing riiight now..." and he drifted off into a dreamless sleep.

He opened his eyes and stood up quickly by a strange noise.

"What ... the hell ... was that?" he asked to no one in particular.

He heard it again. This time he knew what it was. He backed up against the nearest wall.

He could clearly see the two, dangerously cold green eyes peeking out from the tunnel from which he came.
