Chapter 7

Soon after returning to the States, Hathor started to annoy Nick. She seemed to always be there. She kept nagging him to decide on a wish.

"Just one," she said one morning. That was how Nick woke up-Hathor sitting on his bed, begging him to make a wish. Hathor didn't need sleep-she had been sleeping for over 30 years. Often, Nick would wonder what she did during the night.

"I have to think about it," he told her.

"You've been thinking about it for months. You gotta learn to take risks, throw caution to the wind, and go with the flow." She got up from the bed and left the room, slamming the door behind her.

Nick glared at the shut door. Hathor had no idea what it was like to be human. She had no right to tell him what to do.

'Calm down,' he told himself. 'She's not even human.'

Eventually, Nick pulled himself out of bed and got into the shower. He needed to calm down before he faced Hathor.
