What does that tell you about me?

what i do

I'm a family doctor on the Kapiti Coast, New Zealand.  Have been on Sabbatical the past 6 months.  I keep my hand in by doing a weekly one hour radio program called 'Doctor, Doctor', and by doing on-call work for a colleague.
I'm a writer at heart, and would love to make writing my career.  So far it hasn't earned me a cent, so this dream is a wee way in the future:-)  I am writing the story of my life at the moment - 61 000 words and still only twenty..  see an excerpt here..

my family & friends

I have 2 teenaged sons, Chris and Paul.  Chris has his own web page. You can read more about Paul, and a sample of his poetry on the 'Family' page.

I'm in a longterm relationship with Felicity, a journalist and media consultant.  Between us we have two dogs, four cats, several thousand books and three houseloads of furniture.

My special interests

Women's health, depression and gay and lesbian health issues.   I address a lot of these things in my writing and radio program.

One day I hope to make the world a more  understanding place for people who are 'different'.  This is especially for my son Paulie, who is intellectually handicapped, and having a hard time.
