It weren't our fault we did not know
Quite how to play Subbuteo,
Or where the goalie's got to go
At corner-kicks.

We could not see for our young souls
Why not to hit it while it rolls,
Or how you couldn't score own-goals
From onside flicks.

It seemed so strange that such small men
Should be by such big rules told when
They could or could not kick again
Your cousin Neil,

When anyone could plainly see
That on your Grampa's old TV
Man U and Rangers strode scot-free,
Like they were real.
