GROUPS WHO TRY TO TAKE THE MIDDLE GROUND I notice that many of the sites that try to defend legalism, and the ones who try to take a "middle ground" on the issue, are forever mentioning that legalism is okay as long as it's done to be obedient to God and not used as a means of obtaining salvation. I think that this group is in danger of becoming full blown legalists. Some of these same people erect a straw man argument, that is, Christians who are against legalism are also (or must be) completely anti-God's law, or anti-Christian values, morals, and ethics, which is not true; not all anti-legalists are pro-moral relativity. Here's one article that
doesn't seem to fit neatly into either category ("legalism" or "middle
ground") above; he raises some interesting points, though I'm not sure
I'm in full agreement with him on everything: |
