LIBERAL SCHOLARSHIP / THEOLOGY Liberal scholarship and liberal theology tend to deny central truths of the Christian faith, such as the occurrences of supernatural elements in the Bible (the resurrection of Christ; the virgin birth; etc). Those who adhere to liberal views generally deny biblical inerrancy and the trustworthiness of the Gospels, and label literal parts of the biblical texts as being allegorical (such as the flood in Noah's time, and again, the resurrection of Christ), and some declare that the Bible is infallible only in matters of faith but not in other areas, such as history or science. |
