My parents sure weren't sure of where we were going to stay. They didn't want us in a hotel by ourselves, but, even though Mrs. Hanson had said it would be fine, they didn't want us to take up space at the house. Zac had even talked to her online, trying to convince her that we could stay at their house. He promised her that we would behave! I couldn't believe that he had said that, or that my parents would have that little trust in me. But, I think it helped.

I called Brook and told her that my mom and I would pick her up at about quarter to eleven on Sat. morning. We'd grab a bite at Mickey D's or something and then shop all afternoon. "Brook," I said, "let's hit Hallmark first and get a card." When we got to the store, we faced a problem. What kind of card?

"Christmas," said Brook.

"But I think we should get something a little different. Think of all the fan mail. At this time of year, it's all Christmassy stuff."

"You're right," siad Brook. We moved to a different part of the store to look at cards. "How about this one?" asked Brook.

Outside: For a Great Guy...

Inside: Hope today is as great as you!

"Too..." I couldn't think of the word. "It sounds like you've been friends you're whole life. How about this one?"

Outside: To a cool friend,

Inside: Stay Just the Way You Are!!

"Ditto," Brook said.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked.

"What you said about my card. Ditto."

"Fine," I said and kept looking. We looked for another fifteen minutes and found and found cards that Brook liked or I didn't and visa versa. Then I came across a card with a picture of a wild drummer on the front. "I found the perfect one!" I practically yelled. On the outside it didn't say anything, but on the inside it read:

An ordinary card for an out of the ordinary guy! Have a great day!

"It's great," said Brook. "We already know he's out of the ordinary. I mean, how many 13 year old guys have #1 hits?" I could tell Brook was glad we had found a card and could go on to the present part.
