Pokémon Snap
Disk Drive Game Gone Cartridge

When Nintendo said that the N64DD (Disk Drive, for those of you that have been under rocks) would only be in Japan many and I mean many people were very and I mean very upset. Most were afraid that most of the cool games like Pokémon Snap and Zelda: The Ocarina of Time would not be released...but, those super geniuses at Nintendo decided to convert all those great titles to cartridge so all us Americans could play them. Aren't they great.
Well, anyway Pokémon Snap is far from any other N64 game ever to be made (with the partial exception of Pilot Wings, but would you really consider that game?). In the game you once again play as every-one's favorite ten-year-old hero from Pallet Town, Ash Ketchum. This instead of going out to catch Pokémon you go out to Pokémon Island and good ol' Professor Oak gives you a camera and a roll of film with sixty pictures and your quest is to go out and capture those furry little beasts on camera. Now remember the Safari Zone from the Game Boy game? Well this whole game is kinda like that. You have to use apples to lure the Pokémon into the vicinity of the camera, throw rocks into bushes to make some them fly out (I wonder if you could just hit a Pokémon with a rock, if so Pikachu is in some real trouble!) and even play a Pokeflute to put them into a trance so you can take pictures. All in all this seems to me like it will be kinda fun, but some Japanese players weren't pleased because the game wasn't an RPG. If you ask me they're just picky.
Now we go into some technical stuff. Since this game was originally configured to the DD I wonder what kind of memory chip the cart is gonna have. The pictures are gonna be savable so that's gonna take up a lot of space of the cart. Maybe they'll be compressed or zipped or something. If you have to save them on a memory card that's gonna be hell so we'll have to wait and see what's going happen when the game comes out. Q-Bone's Outlook
Personally, I think that this game ought to do well, considering the popularity of all the other stuff that sells just because it's got a picture of Pikachu (who I think deserves much publicity cause every one knows that Cubone is the best) on it. Some Japanese fans weren't pleased, but from what I know I sure am. Look for Pokémon Snap in stores starting April 28th.
