Freaky Flow, originally from Philadelphia, PA, moved with his family to Toronto at a very young age. He first took a serious interest in music at the age of eleven, mesmerized by soul jazz, garage house, and hip-hop. Four years later, he purchased his first set of relatively low-budget turntables and started spinning hip-hop with his skilled partner, D-Wreck. Through this genre, Freaky learned the basics - scratching, cutting, and mixing - in just that prioritized order.
Jungle, drum 'n' bass, and the underground music culture soon captured his attention; Flow, in turn, transferred his knowledge of hip-hop into this new, captivating music. He found that scratching and cutting had unique properties in accompaniment with jungle. Party-going patrons worldwide quickly caught on to this sound.
Currently able to cater to both hip-hop and jungle audiences, Freaky Flow plays almost daily at major events throughout Canada, the US, and beyond. Additionally, Flow plays weekly at numerous Toronto nightclubs and raves, including the production company that first introduced his talent to the rave scene years ago, "Liquid Adrenaline". Flow also enjoys residency a weekly radio show, "Late Night Trippin'", hosted by MC Flipside, on Energy Radio 107.9 FM, spanning through Toronto, Southern Ontario, and western New York.
The transition from DJ to producer was only logical; Freaky wanted to be throwing down his own dub-plates. With his partner in crime, MC Flipside, Freaky Flow now operates and produces for Placebo Recordings (distributed by Stickman Records Inc.). The label has led Flow to work with acclaimed house producer, PJ 'The Soul Grabber', as well as Toronto hip-hop protégé, Choclair. His remix work has been sought after time and again by other Canadian hip-hop legends, including the Rascalz and Maestro. The Placebo imprint has also spawned the "Obscene Underground" CD mix series, the first highly successful volume of which features Freaky Flow himself.
Currently juggling between being a full-time student at the University of Toronto, Director of Special Projects at Stickman Records, and a travelling DJ, Freaky Flow's other aforementioned priorities have kept him out of the production studio in recent months. His schooling degree, however, is nearly complete, and one can only imagine what track ideas have been brewing in Flow's head during such a dormant period of production, just waiting for the right moment to explode onto vinyl.
Additionally, an in-depth sponsorship deal between Freaky Flow and the prestigious clothing line, Fiction Design Company 416 (FDCO.416), has just been signed, granting FDCO.416 the rights to produce and distribute new Freaky Flow mix tapes. So be on the lookout for up-to-date volumes, scheduled to hit the stores in just a view brief months, and check out Flow's stylin' FDCO gear on the road . . .
Often labeled 'Toronto's Jungle Scratchmaster' by promoters, producers, and partygoers alike, Freaky Flow is known as one of the most versatile and technically skilled producer/DJ's in North America. Swarms of partiers may consistently be found huddled around the DJ booth when Flow is on the decks, watching his every move.
