It is funny. People always ask you to tell them a bit about yourself. Now I am not one to be shy.....but sometimes I don't know how much or how little they want to know. Well peoples.....I am spilling my guts here. Take out of it what you want and ignore the rest! *S*
I guess I like to be in control of things...partly why I guess I am a teacher *S* I will always put the kids in my classes before myself. Some people say I put too much time into teaching. But I figure, hey I am a teacher, I am moulding the future...I don't want to stuff it up *LOL* Plus I love it, I really do! I am not one of those teachers who get to school just before the bell and leave straight after school.
I will also say here, that I love my family and friends and will do anything for them. I have been used by people before, and I guess that does make me a little weary. I don't mean to hold people at an arms length, but I know I do!
I am also VERY passionate about my country and the fact that we are a multi-cultural society. I love the differences in people and I think that is what makes it a great society! *S* I also get quite upset with people who believe that everyone should be the same, act the same, dress the same etc.....how boring would that be?
Well enough of that...read about my life below if you dare! *LOL*
Well this is a pretty good place to start hey?.....Ok I was born on November 3 1973(yep that makes me a Scorpio!), in a town in New South Wales called Wagga Wagga.
I grew up in Wagga Wagga until I was five years old. We then moved to Newcastle (remember my father was in the Airforce!). I was into Little Athletics, Tap Dancing and, well I was kinda a tom boy. Most the kids in the neighbourhood were boys, so I played with them. My best friend was my next door neighbour, Craig. I often wonder where he is and what he is up to!
I have one really fond school memory here that I want to share! I was in grade four and some big wigs from the Catholic Board Of Education (oh yeah, forgot to mention that part....I was at a Catholic primary school), came to visit the school. They were in my classroom and wanted to know what we wanted to be when we grew up. All the girls were saying "hairdresser, nurse etc" and the boys, "fireman, truck driver etc"..I wanted to stand out so I said "Lawyer"...well that impressed the heck out of them! *LOL* I didn't really want to be a lawyer, but I didn't want to say the same as what everyone else was saying! *LOL*
Well, we moved onto Canberra in 1985. I was in year six at St Brigid's Catholic School. This is where I met Pam~ my lifelong best friend!(remember you can read all about how wonderful Pam is on the page I wrote about her!) I moved onto highschool the following year.....Merici College! Ohmigod! An all girl's school. I tell ya, it almost killed me. *LOL* You see, I was never one of those girls that believed in "boy germs".....so being apart, was not the wisest move! I actually began to idolise any boy! *RME*
I had a few....well quite a lot of boyfriends during this time...but it was all entirely innocent! I tell you, when I see and hear what kids get up to today, it really makes me sad! Anyway, I had great fun in Canberra and then dad (at the end of 1988) says that he is going to retire from the airforce and we are moving to Brisbane!
Brisbane, Queensland........the Sunshine State. Hmmmmm...funny it rained a lot that first year (1989). I attended a co-ed State High School, which was heaps stricter than the Catholic College in Canberra. But hey I was in HEAVEN!!! I had boys in my class again! *LOL*
I sail through school, not getting the best of marks...thanks to my preoccupation with boys....but graduated in 1991.
Well university, was interesting....due to my poor results (THANKS GUYS!!!) and the universities in Brisbane wanting really high scores to get into teaching, I headed back to Canberra!
I started my Bachelor Of Education there and stayed with some family friends (Pam was off seeing the world! *RME*). This was a real struggle because I missed my family and the people I was staying with...well, let's just say I missed home. So after a semester, I deferred and returned to Brisbane!
I was planning to return the following year.......but guess what?? I fell in love! *LOL*
Deon was his name. Ben (remember the friend from highschool) introduced us at the local pub. Boy was I smitten! I didn't go back to Canberra after that and got into uni in Brisbane. I started my Bachelor Of Teaching Degree then in 1993. During this time.......I fell even more in love with Deon. Well I graduated with a Bachelor of Teaching at the end of 1995. The next phase of my life begins.....
Alright...here I am a teacher! wooohooooooo! Now I just needed a job! I was offered a twelve month contract at a school in Brisbane. "Yes!", I screamed! I had a difficult year four class, but didn't have them for very long- two weeks in fact!. That's right, the numbers of students at the school was low, so a teacher had to go....guess who that was?? Yep me!*LOL* Well Deon and I were going through our usual rubbish, so I accepted a job in the country.....Goondiwindi! This was the best school! I had a year two class with a lot of problems in it, but loved every minute of it! I had a supportive administration and fellow staff (23 teachers). Well Deon and I were still on/off......until October that year (1996).....we broke up for good!......well so I thought! During the holidays 96/97, we sort of got back together...well, hell yeah, we did. We got engaged in January 97. He moved to Goondiwindi (with the Bank) to be closer to me....only problem there was, he started having the doubts.......so I broke up with him in July. God that was hard! *sigh* I still loved him, but knew that we would never be happy together! We stayed friends until I left Goondiwindi at the end of my "country service" December 1998. My best year of teaching was in 1998......I had a two/three composite and had a ball!I also completed my Bachelor Of Eduaction (Advanced Professional Development)during my time in Goondiwindi through correspondence. I really loved the school, but the town was getting a little too small, for both Deon and I, so I put in a transfer.
Well I moved back to Brisbane in December 1998, moved in with my friend Kellie and was ready to have a life again. Until someone waltzed into my life. Enter Ben! (Rmemeber my friend from highschool....also the one who introduced Deon and I!) Well Ben was home on leave from the Navy. We got together (thanks to his parent's getting me drunk)...and he flew back to Perth two days later! Now, I am the typical romantic....and discovered that "Absence makes the heart grow fonder". We spoke on the phone most nights. I went to Canberra for New Years and he even flew across with 12 hours notice to be with me!
Well to cut this part short, I went back to Brisbane, he went back to Perth. The phone calls, emails and icq messages/chats continued until one day we got engaged (over the phone). He came back to Brisbane for the engagement party in March and we fought like cats and dogs....it was horrible. We continued to fight even when he was back in WA. Until one day in May, we broke up. I was pretty devestated, took four weeks leave from school and went to stay with Pam and Ahmed in Canberra! Wow......this is going to sound really shallow, but I had the best time in Canberra! On my second night there I met a guy at Pam's engagement party and well, pretty much forgot about Ben!(and was with him the entire time I was in Canberra) *LOL*
I guess it is time to update this part! It was 1999 when I wrote the spiel above!*S* I had a "trip of a lifetime" to Europe in Dec/Jan 2000 wiht my friend Sharon. (Pictures on the photo page). You can follow the link here to see the page about the trip! http://members.ozemail.com.au/~ozchicki/index.htm Something wonderful (after 2 years of dating HELL!) happened on the date of the First State Of Origin! I was at a Sport's Bar with my friend Jacqui when I met a special man. (Not that I knew it at the time!). To cut a long story short.... we are getting married in December 2002!
