The Zergling is the base unit of the Zerg ground forces. It's a particularly vicious little creature capable of shredding a defenseless enemy to pieces in seconds. Additionally, they are cheap to produce. Fifty minerals gets you two Zerglings! This makes Zerglings ideal for quick defense should an undefended base come under attack. Just get your Hatchery to build three eggs' worth of Zerglings, and before you know it you'll have six Zerglings hopping around just dying to attack the enemy.

Zerglings can be a quick fix when your base is in a tight situation.

The Zerglings' supply cost also is low, accruing only half a supply point each. This makes the Zerglings the perfect unit to create in bulk. It doesn't take long to create two dozen Zerglings to use in quick, swarming arracks. Zerglings are very fast, and when upgraded fully they can cover as lot of ground rapidly. They're particularly effective whenused with a group of Hydralisks. The Zerglings move in and attack directly, distracting the enemy while the Hydralisks pound the opposition from afar. This technique is very effective in some Zerg missiosn, and can be effective in multiplayer games.

Siege Tanks can make dead Zerglings in a hurry, not good.

The Zergling is a great weapon, but like all good things it has its limitations. The Zergling is particularly susceptible to attacks from Siege Tanks, Firebats, Carriers, and even Radiation. Basically, anything that casts a wave of destruction over a wide area is not good for Zerglings. A group of Zerglings unknowingly in range of a Siege Tank will be turned into dust before they can turn and run, so always be aware of thier limitations. The Zergling, more then any other unit, has the ability to surprise, bewilder, and overwhelm an opponent.

The small, savage dune-runner of the sand-world Zz-gash were incorporated into the Zerg Swarm to serve as scouts and initial assault troops. Although the Zerglings are little more than feral animals, they work well in large grouns under the command of larger Zerg warriors. The voracious Zerglings are fond of ripping enemies to shreds with their razor-limb sickles and fangs. Because the genetic code of the Zergling is so simple to replicate, a single Larva can spawn two seperate Zerglings.

Ability: Burrow

Like the Drone, some Zerglings have been noted to burrow underground to set up ambushes or to protect themselves fromair strikes. Care should be taken when scouting for resources in Zerg inhabited areas, as any number of Zerglings could be lying in wait for the unwary.
