"A few," Buck admitted and looked back worriedly.
"Tell me. Please."
Buck sighed and sat too, crossing his legs in front of her. He placed his hands on her shoulders and kissed her lips sweetly. When he looked up at her face again he was dead serious. "They meant nothing to me," he replied sincerely.
"Why were you with them then?" Cami asked smartly, somewhat unsure herself if she was serious or teasing him.
"I thought they meant something, but I was wrong. I didn't love them."
Cami's world spun somewhat at the thought that he was actually falling for her, but she was afraid to ask, and he seemed to miss the point in what he just said.
"I see," she said simply.
"Cami, they all just used me," Buck admitted seriously, stealing another tender kiss.
"Why?" Cami asked with another frown, stroking his chin.
Buck ignored her question. "Don't do that," Buck begged which only made her frown harder. "That! Don't frown," he begged and smiled warmly at her.
"What? What did I do?" Cami giggled, withdrawing her hand.
"You're much prettier when you smile," he whispered in her ear and kissed her neck again.
Cami let him do it, her heart fluttering like a million butterflies at his touch. He had a talent to make her relax and he practiced it continuously, which made her think he could fool her anywhere; whatever he said, she would believe it. Her lips parted in a smile again.
"That's better," Buck whispered and kissed her smile. Then suddenly he rose, pulling her hand. "Come on, let's take another swim!"
He ran toward the water and she followed giggling, throwing a quick glance at the clear-blue sky above them, thanking God for bringing them together, finally. It was perfect.
