Character background: Was born in France in Calais which is on the border between France and Belgium. She learned to speak many languages, since living on the border of another country deemed it useful. When she was born a great gathering of mages, clerics and mediums alike were drawn to the sight of her birth, alike to the way they are drawn to the sun on a Summer solstice, so naming her Éliane.
The reasoning for this gathering was soon reveled when she showed telekinetic powers and the ability to call animals to her. As she grew up, her powers increased and she was scorned by those around her for her ability.
When she became of age, her parents tried to force he to marry someone who she did not love. On the eve of her wedding day, she cried out for help and was soon received by the goddess of the moon, Luna. They made a bargain that, when the time comes, Luna would call for her to do a justice and Luna would now help her to escape.
Éliane escaped to England where she learned the craftsmanship of sword play and many other skills to help her on her way. She met a Druid named Eustacia, who saw the potential in her to be a great magik user and took her in to train her. She lived with this woman who treated her like a daughter and for the first time ever, she felt like she belonged. Although not all was well. Eustacia was a hard teacher and often starved Éliane until she got something right.
Years went by and Éliane was becoming more and more powerful. One bright day while she was out hunting, a vision of darkness clouded Élianes mind. It was Luna calling back her favour. She told Éliane to kill her master to reclame her debt.
Éliane was dismayed by this, not wishing to kill her only family but the goddess had spoken. She killed Eustacia by poisoning her food and buried her in the forest behind the house they stayed in. Éliane stayed in mourning for thirteen days before someone came to the house. It was a man, who introduced himself as Athelstan, son of Eustacia. When he found out she was dead, he struck out at Éliane, and knocked her unconscious, barely alive, and buried her in the ground. Éliane felt a call from Luna, and forced her way to the surface of the earth. She then went on a campaign to find and kill Athelstan for doing that to her. She found him and cursed him eternally for what he did and killed him by cutting off his head. Luna spoke to Éliane and told her that she gives Éliane a reward for doing more than she asked in killing Athelstan, for that was a duty in itself, giving her the gift of shape-shifting into any animal, eternal beauty and everlasting life. Luna gave her a new name, Amarante because her old name no longer suited her.
She disappeared shortly after the events took place and has only been seen again over the last 20 odd years. So far, no one has approached her, but it is only a matter of time...
Now a days she sings on the street, tales of what she has seen and done. People gather round her to listen, enthralled by her voice and skill of storytelling. She is currently living in Chinatown, L.A. But she never stays in one place for too long for fear of any consequences her stay could cause.
Personality: Loyal if have been proved is worth it, keeps her word, hates slavery. Helps people whenever she can, but when she gets angry you'd better stay out of her way. She will protect those who she loves with a great passion which is hard to match. She has a strange sense of humor and listens to the council of her goddess Luna. She prefers either wolf or hawk as her animals. Since she has returned, she has been seen mad and always wearing clothes from head to toe, including black gloves which she never takes off. She also prefers to eat raw steak than human flesh but it will do in a pinch and only if the subject is one with no loved ones and without prospects.
