Pam's Place

Welcome to Pam's Place Valentine's Crafts Page 10.

A Quick game..."Hot" Relay

You will need a spoon and two small bowls, one filled with red hots candy for each team. Divide children into teams and place the full bowl at the starting line on a desk and an empty bowl on a desk at the finish line. The students line up and the first child takes a scoop of red hots in the spoon. At the word "go" the student races to the finish line and empties his spoonfull of red hots into the empty bowl and runs back to the starting line and hands off the spoon to the next student. This is repeated until one of the group's starting bowl is empty and they are declared the winners. (For smaller childen, you can use a 1/4Cup measure for less candy spilled on the floor !)

Heart Telephone Game

All you need to play this game is a bag of conversation hearts. Have all the kids sit in a circle and give each child a converstion heart (make sure the saying is readable). The first child reads the saying on his heart. The second child repeats the first saying and then reads his own. The third child repeats the first two and then reads his own. Keep going until someone makes a mistake and then that child and their saying is eliminated. The next child starts over. You can put a time limit on the game because once enough children are eliminated all the childen should have the sayings memorized.

Valentine's Toss

For this craft you will need to find a rectangular flat box and cut circles out of the lid a little larger than the balls you're using. Ping pong balls work well, and some masking tape. Decorate the box for the holiday. Use the masking tape to mark a starting point about 3 feet away from the box on the floor. Give each player 7 ping pong balls and have them try to land as many as possible in the cut-out circles. The object is to get all seven in the holes at two points a piece to equal 14 points.

Heart Butterfly

For this craft you will need wooden clothes pins (one for each child), pipe cleaners, glue, acrylic paint, and an assortment of different color craft foam or construction or tissue paper and magnets (optional).
Ahead of time, paint the clothes pins either red, white or pink to match the rest of your decorations. You can cut three 4" antennae out of one 12" pipe cleaner. With either the craft foam or construction paper, cut out 2 sets of hearts, one set larger than the other for the butterfly's wings. These hearts can be decorated with stickers or smaller cut out hearts. Glue the 4 hearts and 4" pipe cleaner bent in half for the anttennae to the underside of the clothes pin leaving the clip open. Alternately, you can fan fold pretty tissue paper and glue underneath. These butterflies can be used to clip the top of treat bags, or you can glue a magnet on the back.
