Pam's Place

Welcome to Pam's Place Valentine's Crafts Page 5.

VALENTINE CANDLES

#1: Melt some paraffin inside a can placed in a pan of hot water (on the stove). Paint the melted paraffin over construction paper hearts glued to a candle. Tie appropriate ribbon around base of candle.
#2: Same as above, but use a valentine cutout with an arrow going through.
#3: Glue heart shaped confetti to candle. Add decorative ribbon.

VALENTINE CANDY CONES

Use a real (sugar) ice cream cone for the bottom. For the scoop, wrap a good handful of candy hearts (or Red Hots) in clear (colored) plastic wrap. Twist one end of an 8" pipe cleaner around the bottom of the scoop to hold the wrap closed. Run the other end down through the cone and out a small hole cut off of the tip to hold the scoop in place.

SWEET VALENTINES

Cut out heart shapes from red paper - the stiffer, the better. Use a black felt tip pen to write a message on the heart. Select a piece of candy appropriate to the message and glue this onto the heart. (Place un-wrapped candy inside a cellophane pouch first.) Sample messages and candy items:
I "chews" you for my Valentine (stick of gum)
This may be "corny", but be my Valentine (candy corn pieces)
"Mint" to ask you to be mine (mint)
A "kiss" for you if you'll be mine (Hershey's kiss)
Don't burst my "bubble" - Be mine (bubble gum)
I'm no "sucker" - I want you for my Valentine (lollipop)

HEART JEWELRY

Make a dough heart (see below). Let it dry, paint, and decorate. Add a stick-on magnet, ribbon for hanging, or pin for brooch. A favorite is to paint it red, then coat the top with a layer of tacky glue and press into red glitter.
Recipe: 2 cups flour (not self-rising), 1 cup salt, 1 cup water. Knead until firm and smooth. If using molds, coat surface with oil so dough doesn't stick.

HEART WEAVINGS

Cut a large heart out of a piece of construction paper folded in half. While it's still folded, cuts straight or wavy lines across the center fold. To weave, use construction paper strips 1/2" x 12". When the strips are all woven, glue them in place on the back near the top. Leave the bottom strips hanging from the front, cut to different lengths and glue small construction paper hearts to the ends.
