April smirked. "Oh, yeah! That boy has got a great body!"
Kelsy winced at the volume of April's voice. "Oh, really?"
"Yup! We went out dancing and it was so much fun, you don't even know!" April gushed on and on about Justin and their date and Kelsy winced every time her voice rose a notch.
Suddenly Josh snapped the headphones off, threw them onto the table, and stalked to the back room, slamming the door shut after him. A few moments later they heard MTV blaring loudly from the TV. Kelsy sighed, knowing Josh was trying to block out his thinking.
April sighed, disgusted, and Kelsy stood. "I'm gonna go talk to him."
April nodded and pulled on his headphones. Discovering they were on pause, she turned them on. She was shocked when she heard her own voice crooning back at her.
Kelsy didn't say a word as she opened the door to the backroom, simply knelt down on the couch next to Josh and wrapped her arms around him. He leaned into her embrace and rested his head on her shoulder, taking a deep breath to keep the tears from spilling over.
They sat like that for nearly ten minutes before Kelsy spoke. "I'm sorry, Josh."
"It's not your fault," Josh sighed.
"Why does it suddenly bother you to have April going out with him? It never bothered you before when she dated," Kelsy asked gently.
"Because I knew that I'd always be first place in her heart, right next to you," Josh said. "Let's face it, I stand no chance of any sort against Justin Timberlake."
"And why not?" Kelsy looked Josh straight in the eyes.
"The guy's supposedly really cute, he's got a great body, according to April, he's famous, he's rich, he's talented. Wake up, Kels," Josh sighed.
"You're cute. Not photogenic, but cute. You've got a great body, too. Famous doesn't mean jack to April and you know wealth doesn't either. And you're talented!"
"I'm not talented," Josh said scornfully.
"Come on, just because you could use some help in the singing department doesn't mean you don't have talent," Kelsy laughed. "You know there's no way Justin could even hold a candle to you when it comes to dancing. He's good, but not as good as you. And besides," Kelsy added slyly. "Could Justin Timberlake sexify one of April's outfits to her taste without even asking what she wants?"
Josh smirked. "I guess not. Thanks, Kels, you're great!" Josh gave her a quick kiss on her chin and then lay in her lap to watch the movie Kelsy had just put on.
April entered a few moments later and Josh stiffened in Kelsy's lap. Kelsy looked down and saw only uncertainty on Josh's face, not anger.
"Hey, Seky," April stretched out on the couch between Josh's legs with her head on his stomach.
"Hey, Baby," Josh replied, running his fingers through her hair. "Whatcha doin' tonight?"
April giggled evilly and Kelsy groaned.
"Dear God, Josh, did you have to ask her that?" Kelsy joked.
"For your information, I'm going to be a very good girl tonight!" April said indignantly. "I'm only going to set the venue on fire."
Josh sat straight up, scrunching April up between his chest and his legs. "You're gonna what?"
"Owie, Joshy, you're hurting me!" April whined.
Josh lifted her up and shifted her so she wasn't in any pain, then repeated his question.
"I said I'm gonna put the venue on fire," April grinned and Josh sighed. "No, you don't want to know." April answered Josh's unasked question.
"Ok," Josh lay back down in Kelsy's lap as Kelsy's dancer Aaron entered the room.
"Uhm, yeah," He gave them a funny look, then sat beside Kelsy.
"What are you tryin' to say, Aaron?" Kelsy asked, leaning back against him.
"Nothin' at all," Aaron said. "What are we watching?"
"Ten Things I Hate About You," April looked up and grinned. "The guy that gets the younger girl looks just like a guy I know!"
"Is that all you think about?" Aaron asked, laughing. "Guys?"
"Yuppie-doodles," April said cheerfully. "And setting the venue on fire!"
"We don't wanna know," Josh put in.
Aaron nodded. "Gotcha."
"Hey!" April pouted. "You act like you don't wanna know things I do all the time!"
"We aren't acting like we don't wanna know," Aaron said kindly. His voice changed to a more blunt tone. "We really don't."
