"I have two things to say," Jon said simply. "Your mother is going to kill you," Jon began, referring to both of them. "And you look perfect."
"Together or seperate?" Justin said, sliding an arm around Lucky's waist.
"Together...And Lucky looks perfect apart from you, but you alone...I dunno, you just don't do anything for me!" Jon shrugged, a mischievious grin sliding over his face.
"That's a good thing, ya know," Justin stated.
"Lucky?" Her mother's voice echoed throughout the main room of their suite and Jon shoved Lucky and Justin into the bathroom, threw a piece of paper on the bed, and ducked in after them, leaving the light off and the door open, but shoving them back out of plain view.
Lucky could see her mother walk into the room, read the paper, and leave in a huff.
As the door slammed, Jon laughed. "Gets her every time, Princess."
Lucky grinned. Jon had told her they had tried to get ahold of her, but she hadn't answered the door, so they had gone ahead and left.
Jon led Lucky and Justin to the window leading out to the fire escape and opened the window. Justin went through first, then Jon lifted Lucky through into Justin's waiting arms, then followed himself, carefully shutting the window behind him.
The climbed down the stairs for about five stories, then stopped, realizing they couldn't lower the ladder to the ground or an alarm would go off, the way this hotel was set up.
Justin grinned and jumped over the railing. The difference was only about six feet from the ground to the platform. Jon, catching on, lifted Lucky over the ladder and had her stand on the platform, digging her toes under the railing. He then got a good tight grip on her wrists and lowered her into Justin's arms. Justin just situated her so she was sitting on his shoulder until Jon could get down and lift her out of his arms so her dress didn't slide up. Lucky found that very gentleman-like and endearing.
Jon sprinted ahead and managed to catch the rest of *N Sync and their dates before they got into the elevator. When Justin and Lucky rounded the corner, Chris, ever the crazy one, took off for Lucky, squealing her name like a child and swinging her around in his arms.
"I think your date may be jealous," Lucky stage-whispered.
"Nah, she's my sister," Chris grinned, pulling the six year old from behind his legs to introduce them.
"Hi there, Sweetie," Lucky bent to her level. The little girl smiled shyly and ducked her head.
Lucky shrugged and Jon hurried her into the limo, in case her mother came down. Once settled in the limo, Chris' little sister shyly settled herself in Lucky's lap.
"Ooh!" Justin teased. "Chris just got burned!"
JC grinned. "By his own flesh and blood, no less."
JC's date, a pretty girl named Bobbi, grinned. "That's terrible. Poor Chris." She blew him a kiss. "All better?"
Chris laughed. "Yeah."
"See, JC?" Bobbi turned to her grinning date. "I can too make things all better with a kiss." She pushed her lower lip out in a pout.
JC grinned and kissed her until she smiled. "See? So can I."
"Hey! No fair!" Bobbi laughed, leaning her head on his shoulder.
"Almost there, guys, get ready!" The driver called back over his shoulder.
Lucky tensed and Justin easily slipped his hand into hers. "What's wrong?" He whispered into her ear.
"Just nerves," Lucky whispered back. "I don't know how fans and press will react to this." She added, holding up their intwined hands.
"Ah, well, if they don't like it, it's too bad for them," Justin continued whispering. "Because I get to choose who I fall for, they don't."
Lucky smiled. "You're so sweet. Thanks."
Justin grinned and prepared to step out of the limo. Chris's little sister had crawled off Lucky's lap and into her brother's.
Justin stepped out and the crowd went crazy. Lucky smiled when Justin reached back into the limo to help her out. Lucky almost laughed at the split second of stunned silence that followed her appearance.
Justin winked, and then turned on his I'm-Justin-Timberlake-adore-me smile for the crowd, hamming it up.
Lucky was smiling and waving, also, until she saw her mother. Standing there. A look of pure anger and hatred directed straight at Justin. Lucky froze.
Justin turned to her, concerned. He followed her eyes and then quickly turned Lucky away, and gave her a gentle, reassuring kiss on the forehead. "It'll be ok, Luck," He whispered into her ear. "Trust me."
Lucky nodded mutely, plastering a smile back onto her face.
"There's my girl," JC's whispered voice offered some encouragement, and got him a thankful smile.
"Your girl?" Justin turned, an eyebrow raised.
"Yup, my girl," JC proclaimed, wrapping an arm around Lucky, ignoring the daggers being shot at him by Lucky's mother. "Forget Bobbi!"
"Hey!" The petite girl protested, lightly slapping JC's arm.
Lucky grinned. "Sowwy, Bobbi. Honest!"
"The grin is still there," Bobbi pointed out playfully as the door was opened for the two couples and they were led to their seats.
