Give Me Peace

I cannot fall asleep tonight

my thoughts won't let me rest

I close my eyes and see the sights

That I remember best.

 

Tomorrow is another day

and I must get some sleep

But thoughts of you will not desist

I toss........I turn....I weep

 

The more I attempt to fight

my memories of you

The more my thoughts turn to the night

we share the love we knew

 

I saw the light play on your face

I remember, dear - your eyes

They shone so bright with light of love

that you could not disguise.

 

We stood and held each other tight,

our pact sealed witha kiss

I hoped for all eternity

that we could stay like this.

 

A year has come and gone my love,

an empty wasted year,

Since the day we said goodbye my love

will i ever have you near?

 

So many things came in between,

our pact may never be,

I never dreamed I could feel this way

such pain - and so empty

 

So I'll close my eys and try to sleep

Pretend that you are here

Perhaps if I try hard enough

this last year might disappear

 

So if I let my thoughts run free

Perhaps then I will find

That I'll relax enough to sleep

and find some peace of mind
