"I'll see yeah around, alright, and keep that chin up! I'll be back before you know it." A 13 year old Nick said to his 12 year old best friend, Ashley.
"You sure?" Ashley sniffed. She really didn't want to see him go.
Nick was going to be apart of a singing group with four other people. She was happy for him cause she knew he really liked to sing but if they made it big she wouldn't see him as much as she did now.
"You got it Squirt, and 'member I'll call every chance I get, so don't be sad." Truth was he was as sad as her but he had to be strong for her sake.
"All right I'll try." Ashley said. Nick wiped her tears away with his thumb.
"Don't cry." Nick whispered.
"Come on Nick! We got to go." Jane Carter yelled.
"A hug?" Nick said with the "puppy dog look" (Author's note: I hate when guys do that I can never resist.) Ashley smiled and gave him a quick hug. "I'll see yeah later and don't cry, I hate it when you cry." Nick said and ran to the car.
"Bye!" Ashley chocked out. Nick opened the door and looked at Ashley he waved and gave her a boyish smile and hopped inthe car, Jane drove off and he was... gone.
He's gone. He wont be back in like forever and he will forget about me. I love you Nick!
Ashley ran into her house and grabbed her teddy bear that Nick had givin her for her seventh birthday and hugged it to her chest. She layed down and cried herself to sleep.
*Present Day*
"Your leaving?! But you just got back!" Ashley yelled into the phone.
"I'm sorry, Squirt I didn't mean for this to happen, I want to sstay as much as you do, but I can't. I'm sorry I know we had stuff planned." NIck said trying to reason with her.
"Okay." Ashley sighed.
"Hey! Why don't you come over for dinner." Nick said.
"Nick now I don't think I sh-"
Nick cut her off, "No come on Ash come over, pweeeeze."
"Okay your to much you know that?" Ashley asked.
"I know, it's a gift." Nick said.
"O Okay anyway I'll be over in a few."
"Bye." Ashley hung up her phone and got on her long sleeved FUBU shirt and FUBU overalls. she ran down stairs.
"I'm leaving mom! Going to Nicky's for dinner!" Ashley yelled and ran out of the door and across the street to Nick's house. Aaron was sitting on the lown chair writeing. "Hey A.C. watch ya doing?" Ashley asked coming up to him.
"Oh hey Ash, homework." Aaron sighed.
"Do you know where Nick is?"
"Yeah, he's on his boat he didn't go nowhere he's just on the dock you can go around the side." AAron said pointing to the gate on the side of the house.
"Thanks buddy."
Ashley walked through the side gate to the Carter's backyard, she walked through and looked at the backyard.
wow She and Nick have been through alot in this backyard; she looked at the tree house, "Ashley and Nick only!" printed on the door in very bad handwriting in blue paint. The lake where Nick taught her how to swim when she was 8. The tire swing whre Nick broke his arm. And of course the basketball court...
*Flashback*
"I win again! ha you suck, Squirt!" A 16 year old Nick said to a 15 year old Ashley.
"Hey you sucked before you left how did you get so good?" Ashley said.
"Brian taught me." Nick said simply.
"And you got taller." Ashley said and looked at Nick.
"Oh, I thought you shrunk." Nick laughed.
"Hey!" Ashley threw the ball at Nick, it hit him in the head and bounced off.
"Ow! Hey!" Nick picked up the ball and started running after Ashely.
*End Flashback*
Ashley looked at Nick the sun set over his blonde hair. He looked different his hair was longer less blonde his body was more built and slimmer. He was wearing a pair of big baggy blue jeans that she could tell he was sagging, Pull 'em up idiot!, a wife beater, and no shoes. (Author's note: Now that sounds hot! *slap* sorry continue.)
"Nicky!" Ashlley yelled.
Nick turned around and smiled when he saw her. He hopped out of the boat and ran to her and scooped her up in a great big bear hug.
"Hi, Ashee (Author's note: It's Ash-ee, so I didn't mis spell the name)
"Hi Nick I missed you." Ashley said and broke the hug.
"Kids, sorry to break this rejocing moment but could you two come for dinner." Jane yelled out of the screen door.
They laughed and ran inside. They sat down next to eachother at the dinning rom table.
"So Ashley, waht's up with Joey?" Bob asked.
"Who? No I'm kidding no he moved out he got married, two months ago." Ashley said talking about her older brother, Joey.
"Really? To uh um the hot chick oh um Britany! Right?" Nick said.
Ashley laughed. "Yes, Britany."
"Lucky guy." NIck mumbled.
After dinner, Nick and Ashley went upstairs, to his room.
"So your leaving tomorrow?" Ashley asked. She knew the answer she just wished it wasen't true.
"Yeah," Nick sighed. "Look Ash I don't want to go either, but I really have no choice. I'm sorry."
Ashley's pager went off. "Oh, got to go see Dustin." Ashley said.
"Who is Dustin?" Nick asked.
"Just my boyfriend."
Nick's mouth dropped.
"I'm kidding. I have to go home."
"Bye." Nick gave her a kiss onthe cheek.
"Bye." Ashley walked out of his room.
*Flashback*
"No Nick go away!" A 5 year old Ashley screamed.
"Come on Ashley!" A 6 year old Nick yelled. Nick tackled her to the ground.
"No Nick, please!" Ashley screamed.
Nick kissed her on the cheek. "Ha ha you got cuttes!" Nick yelled.
