It is 2155; the Year of the Prophecy.
It has been 1300 years since the Redwall Abbey of the planet now known as Loamhedge, named after the abbey before Redwall, was destroyed, supposedly by an unknown band of vermin. It is said that the members of the order of Redwall were foretold of the band of vermin and left the abbey the morning of the same day the small horde arrived. After Redwall was abandoned by its inhabitants, who, needless to say, took the tapestry and sword of Martin with them, those still faithful to the order, who were all but a small handful of beasts, sailed the world to chart the remaining seas and continents. As other civilizations were discovered, new cultures, beliefs, and methods of timekeeping were adopted. The Mossflar System now uses the calendar basing the years and seasons on Loamhedge's orbit around the sun.
By the year 1645, the Year of the World, Loamhedge had been completely and accurately mapped. This accomplishment, although satisfying, caused not only the desire to explore the surrounding world further but for each nation of Loamhedge to own the most of it. Between 1735 and 1755, collectively known as the Years of the Lands, many disputes over ownership of particular landmasses arose between the nations of Loamhedge, resulting in the War of the World, lasting until 1765, the Year of the Calm. By this time, every single acre of land on the planet was colonized. Disregarding the fact that the War had just ended, almost all of the colonies rebelled against their mother country and fought from just after the War in 1766, the Year of the Storm, to 1776, the Year of Independance, during which time is known as the Loamhedge Revolution Era. In 1835, the Year of Differences, a more civil war was fought, words being the main artillery rather than weapons, and over the people instead of the land. This war, concerning the segregation of alignments associated with the classification of speices, came to an end in1855, the Year of the Compromise, during which the Species Alignment Agreement was signed and officiated by Abbess Geraldine for Pure-Woodlanders, Erak Shanus for Pseudo-Woodlanders, Joslin Firetail for Pseudo-Vermin, and Viktor Bladepoint for Pure-Vermin. The agreement stated that no beast's alignment would be based on the species and general classification they may belong to. Because of the SAA, by 1965, the Year of the Cosmos, Loamhedge was able to have an official space exploration program.
In 2030, the Year of Unity, Loamhedge and the Mossflar System, which were not yet their registered names, was invited to join the United Systems Organization, which, by their acceptance, would enable the Mossflar System to communicate with other systems of the same cause, including Lylat. Mossflar, the name agreed upon and chosen by the Board of the Nations, was taken from the old name of the country now known as Redwall, but had been slurred in the research, submittance, and registration process and is known to not be the country of Redwall's actual former name, which remains a mystery to this day.
Earlier in the same year the Mossflar System was accepted into the USO, the Board of the Nations was organized to better unify the world of Loamhedge, as well as to reduce the chances of a world war breaking out. However, after all of the more hospitable planets in the Mossflar System were colonized and given registered names, the name of the Board was changed 10 years after its founding to the Board of the Mossflar System. Every eight years, in rotation, each planet chooses a new representative in the order of location from the sun to the end of the system. The eighth year, during which no election is made, is appropriately known as a year of resting.
In 2035, the Year of Exile, Mossflar's neighbor system of Lylat was discovered. The most hospitable planet of Corneria became a place to send prisoners of all sorts, from shoplifters to mass murders. It wasn't more than 15 years when the planet of Venom was reconsidered through many USO and Mossflar Board meetings as a new location of exile, while the planet of Corneria flourished into a new civilization. By end end of 2050, the Year of Freedom, Corneria was made an independant planet and in 5 short years thereafter, the entire Lylat system was completely inhabited and made independant.
During 2036, the Year of the Colonies, better known as the Mossflar Colonization Era, beasts from all over Loamhedge dispersed out to the other life-bearing planets of the Mossflar System. Saraha, the planet nearest the sun, and Kasala, the planet farthest from the sun, were on either ends of temperate extremes, and therefore uninhabitable, leaving the seven in the middle to colonize. The inhabited planets of the Mossflar System are: Thorn, the dry plains planet; Tews, sister planet of Thorn; Shout, the least developed of the colonies; Loamhedge, Mossflar's "cradle planet"; Ates, the most developed of the colonies; Zarcon, a mostly swamp and wasteland planet of mystery; and Tundrus, a planet of many snowy mountains and fierce blizzards.
20 years after the Mossflar Colonization Era, Ates had five completed regulation cities by USO standards and became the first planet of the Mossflar System to become a full-fledged planet under USO criterion. By that time, the Board of the Mossflar System unanimously agreed that it would be in everybeast's best interest if the Board's headquarters wasn't stationed on a particular planet, so as not to show any favorism toward a planet or to bring forth any implication of the board's leader based on location. As a result, Station 13-M was launched from Loamhedge, former location Board Headquarters, in 2055, the Year of New Beginnings. Station 13-M is currently orbiting the sun, positioned between Loamhedge and Ates. Coincidentally, 2055 was the 100 year anniversary of the Species Alignment Agreement and the 1200 year anniversary of the Fall of the Redwall Abbey.
Now, after the defeat of Dr. Andross of the Lylat System, a USO meeting was called during which the decision was made that every system should have a local Star Force, like that of Fox McCloud's Starfox Team. This issue was taken to a meeting of the Board of the Mossflar System where it is currently being discussed as to how this service would be budgeted in with the development of a faster and more efficient System Communication Network, as well as paying back funds to other systems borrowed during the Mossflar Colonization Era.
