Chapter Seven

Kellist kept ringing the bell. Mother Amber and Graitin were the first ones awake. Mother Amber grabbed a fishing pole from the wall and Graitin grabbed his sword. Mother Amber whipped the fishing pole about, laying flat several vermin. Graitin whirled around with his sword, but the vermin were too many to fight, they soon went down under a wave of vermin. Kellist continued ringing the bell. Then he too was knocked out and tied up.

The Redwallers were sleepily wrestled out of bed and led to the Great Hall. The dibbuns lay pitifully whining in a corner as a ferret watched over them. The ferret was browned furred, brown eyed, and brown clothed.

The ferret tried his hardest to stop the pitiful dibbuns from crying, "Sssh, stop cryin' or Whiplorn'll gut ye." That only caused the young children to cry harder. The poor ferret fell on his face crying.

Rowan and Audrey stepped over to the ferret, "Don't cry, Mother Amber says that only little dibbuns should cry."

The ferret continued blubbering.

"He's worser than us!!" A little mouse cried.

Twyla and Lilla were once again in captivity, Whiplorn recognized them and smiled, "Gotcha back!"

Whiplorn paced in front of the Abbey Dwellers, "All you sissy little wimps better listen or else. You belong to me, you're now my slaves, I'll work ye until your paws fall off. So you better listen up." The Redwallers were chained up, the dibbuns and even the warriors.

Whiplorn gave the key to the ferret, "Keep yer eye on this key, Deathpaw, and don't let it out of your sight." The ferret sighed and saluted. He looped the key around the hilt of his sword.

Whiplorn led his horde into the upper dormitories. When they left, Deathpaw sat down.

"Misser Deafmaw?" Audrey called.

Deathpaw looked up, "Yeah?"

"These chains aw huwting my awms."

Deathpaw sighed and loosened the chains. Audrey smiled and thanked the ferret. Soon the abbey was resounding in the calls of hurting arms. Deathpaw sighed again and loosened all the dibbuns chains. Deathpaw once again sat down. Soon the elders were whining. Deathpaw threw up his paws and yelled, "What do ye want me to do? Undo the chain!!"

The Redwallers nodded, "Ye know, Whiplorn hasn't been treating me well at all. I guess I will, yeah, strike him a blow." Deathpaw undid the latch and ripped the chain off the Redwallers." They stood up and laughed. Deathpaw opened the door and rushed the Redwallers out the gates.

Whiplorn came down the stairs and saw the chain and manacles lying on the floor. He gritted his teeth and roared, "DEAATHPAAAAAWWW!!!!"

Dimitri was ready to leave the mountain when he looked out the window and saw a whole horde of vermin led by a female stoat. Dimitri yelled out of the window, "What do you want stoat??"

"Oh nothing, just passing by, and the weirdest thing happened. An owl came to me and told me about a mountain of hares and badgers that just happened to have a whole bunch of treasure in it, have you ever seen this mountain??"

Dimitri hurled a javelin at the stoat, "Go away!"

"Temper, temper, Raya has to teach you a lesson. Horde! Chaaaaaarge!!!!"

Caitin, Ax, Randy, Sleekfur, Talon, Steelpeak, Goldpaw, and Ann-Lee were traveling through the

Great Forest, to the North of Paladin. A few feet in and they heard a struggle. A ferret was standing over a bunch of vermin piled on top of a mouse. The Paladins rushed in yelling, "PAAALAAADIINNN!!!!" Caitin swung his great Broadsword and Ax did damage with his axe. Goldpaw, Steelpeak, Sleekfur, and Randy were a twisting, whirling, ring of blades. Talon flew up and carried rats above the forest and dropped them. Ann-Lee grabbed a Trident from a rat and began rushing through the vermin. They retreated at the last minute.

"You haven't heard the last of Blackheart!!" The ferret yelled. Caitin picked up the mouse, who dizzily staggered around, "Who're you, I'm gonna tear up all you all!"

"Settle down young one, what's your name?"

"Marton, Meytan, Meetoam, whoa!! I don't thing the treeeeeeeess are posed to spin like that!" The mouse fell on the ground in a heap. Caitin waved a paw in front of the mouse's face.

"Uggggh, wow!! My head hurts. Hey, you're a badger!! That's cool!!!"

Ann-Lee grabbed a bucket of water and splashed the mouse, he coughed and shook off, "I'm all wet now! My name's Martin XIX. Hey, why is that otter spinning??"

Sleekfur whacked the mouse upside the head, "You're still dizzy."

Steelpeak smiled, "I'll take care of it."

Far away in Paladin

Julia paced the silent halls will a peaceful look on her young face. Nulaer had taken his family south. The squad members never stayed in the fortress. The only sound was that of Lilac, the young pretty messenger of Paladin, writing entries in her big book. Julia stepped in and sat on a chair opposite the squirrelmaid. Lilac looked up, her spectacled eyes reaching Julia's beautiful grey-green eyes. Lilac smiled and returned to writing. Julia sighed.
