Notes on Fanfiction

I never give my fanfics 'warnings'. Most people in any fandom know what they're likely to get in a given story. I also believe that reading anything requires a certain element of risk. I subscribe to the principle that art is art, whoever may enjoy it, and you can always stop reading if you become disturbed or disgusted.

I have, however, put my fictions into categories. As much as I dislike the limitations of genre, fanfiction readers often go in search of a certain type of story, and they like to know what they're getting. Which is perfectly fine.

Descriptions of what the categories mean:

yaoi - I don't tend to differentiate between 'yaoi' and 'shonen ai'... basically, to me, they both mean 'boy love' - two males being romantically and/or sexually involved within the confines of a story. This does not necessarily mean that the story focuses wholly on their relationship. [Note: All of my Gundam Wing yaoi fics are 3x4; that is, Trowa-Quatre. I'm obsessed.]

angst - Just what the word implies: heavy and angst-filled. The opposite of fan fluff. Could involve death, abuse, depression - any or all of the above. A pervasive dark tone.

humour - A fic in which everything and everyone is played for comic relief. Lots of possible out-of-character scenarios, slapstick, and scenes that make no sense beyond making you laugh.

introspective - Short little thought-monitors of my favourite characters. Completely devoid of plot in the traditional sense, these are basically just snippets of personality I found intriuging enough to write about.
