You and Me
A smile when I see you
     is a lifting moment
     worth all tribulation
Without change, without shock, always
     bringing up from down
     steady from shaking
Sunny from the storm
Accepting from the accusation,
     whenever the need surfaces
I must thank you
     my hope in the heat,
     rock in the sea,
     and constant, everlasting star.
How I can I know you
     from a thousand?
I see through crowds.
How can you know me
     from a million?
You don’t.
You never will.
It’s accepted.
What on earth could I say?
NOTHING truly NOTHING
     could tell
What you really are
     (which is)
What you are
     to me
     is you.
