After our magical night on the mountain, AJ and I became much closer. It seemed that we couldn't be apart for any longer than absolutly necessary. The next day at their afternoon show, I actually got to do my job as security, and it was definitly stressful. There were 10 000 teenage girls, screaming at the top of their lungs and pushing their hardest to get closer to their idols. I hadn't realized before what a Backstreet concert was like. My place in the booth was little sanctuary, and I was still paranoid of being there alone. Three of us manned the booth, with headsets and three moniters each. Mine were placed at entrance 3, stage left and section 6. The afternoon concert went smoothly, we radioed small difficulties to the ground crew, such as "fainting, section 6 row 27, seat 12. Red shirt" and made sure that the call was answered by the venue staff.

After the show, we stuck around to make sure that the venue cleared properly, and then I went backstage to meet the guys. I was wandering around, dazed by the excitement, and couldn't find anyone anywhere, when I heard AJ call my name from behind me. I turned around and smiled.

"I was looking for you" we both said at the same time.

"You first" I laughed, walking into his waiting arms.

"I just wanted to know how today was for you, the show and all." he explained, holding me gently.

"The crowd was amazing, I was stunned. To tell the truth, until I get used to that, I probably won't see much of the show..." I laughed. "It was insane!" I turned around. "But I could hear you and you sounded great." I told him. He smiled.

"I'm glad. I'm also glad that we don't have to do anything specific until 6:30 tonight... we've got the whole day just to us."

"Yeah, but J, do you really think that we can go anywhere without getting mobbed? Remember how we met?" I poked him in the ribs.

"Ahh, but you'd rescue me again, wouldn't you?" he asked, tossing me the famous McLean puppydog eyes. He blinked a couple times, pouting.

"Hey, aren't I supposed to be the one batting my eyelashes, McLean?" I laughed, giving him a playful shove and running farther backstage.

"Hey! Get back here!" he called, chasing after me. I ran down the back halls until I couldn't beath through my laughter anymore.

He caught up with me and grabbed me around the waist, pulling me to him. "Gotcha!" he laughed, kissing me playfully.

I pulled away. "Oh, no you don't!" I laughed again, teasing him as I ran again. When he caught up with me again, he leaned me against a door to a supply room, but it wasn't completely closed. I caught myself on the frame, and started to laugh, but stopped when I saw the look on his face.

I turned around and was shocked. I shoved AJ out of the way and closed the door again. "Shit!" I laughed again as I ran around the corner. "I did not just see what I think I saw... no no no no no..." I mumbled, sitting down against the wall. AJ spun around the corner after me and fell to the ground my my feet.

"Oh, shit... he's gonna kill us!" he laughed, flopping on his back.

"Him? what about her? I'm her best friend and I didn't even know that they were that serious... shit!" I laughed.

"Why would you? Does she know what you were doing last night?" he asked as he crawled towards me, licking him lips.

"I suppose not... I think it's time for another chat with Summer." I laughed as he wiggled his eyebrows at me. "Not this instant, mind you..." I smiled as his lips captured mine in a sweet kiss.

Later that afternoon, I was lying on the bed with AJ watching TV, as we decided that it wasn't a great idea to go out. Summer walked in and instantly turned a deep shade of red, seeing that we were both there. "Uh, hi." she mumbled, darting to the bathroom.

I laughed and sat up, pushing AJ to his feet. "Go, hun. Time for the chat. Go talk to Nick." I grinned.

"Oh, yeah, and that won't be weird..." he moaned.

"Hey, I need all the gossip that I can get!" I grinned and sent him out of the room. By the time that Summer emerged from the bathroom, I had settled back to the TV. Without looking at her, I asked bluntly, "so, are you gonna fill me in, or do I need to squeeze it out of you?"

I felt her flop down next to me. "Oh Geez... how much did you two see?" She moaned.

"Oh, not that much really, just that you two were getting pretty.. friendly... and that you'd decided that underwear was the latest fashion craze..." I laughed, trying to relax her.

"Oh, geez, I feel like such a slut...." she moaned.

"You are so not..." I reasurred her, and then listened as she gave the gory details.

"And Cass, he's so hot! When he touches me, I just get shivers... and you know that feeling that I get in the pit of my stomach? It's like, constant. He just needs to look at me... Am I a slut?" she asked, concearned.

"I would say not, seeing as you two really seem to like each other... besides, I'm not really one to talk..." I hinted.

"What? I don't follow..." she was confused.

"Do you want the long story or the short one about last night?" I asked her, and she instantly grinned. "Oh, so here I was feeling like shit... you go Cass! Tell me everything!" she laughed as we settled down to share the stories that only best friends tell each other.
