"Hey! Hey!" AJ yelled at me as I began to walk away. "Wait up a minute!" He caught up to me, and then walked beside me as I made our way to the security offices. "You haven't told me your name yet, I told you mine..." He asked. I stopped and looked at him.
"Cassandra Aspen" I said to him as I held my I.D. up to him. "Happy?" I continued walking. He gets mobbed my screaming girls every day of his life, I thought, so now he thinks that he is God's gift to women? Hardly. I looked back over my shoulder as I turned a corner. He flashed me a cheesy grin and batted his eyelashes behind his glasses. I ignored him, and turned to the security office door, which we had reached. When I opened the door, my boss greeted me.
"Well done, Sassy," he said, smiling. "That was a tough situation, and you handled it well. You're learning quickly!" Adam then turned to AJ. "So, you're who the big fuss was over. You must be a big star. I'm Adam Cornell, Cassy's boss, and head of the security at this mall." Adam put his hand out for AJ to shake. I shook my head, all this fuss over such a little disturbance.
AJ smiled and shook Adam's hand. "AJ McLean, sir. I'm sorry to have caused so much trouble, I thought it would be alright seeing as it was still early morning. I guess I was wrong. Thank goodness Cassandra was there to rescue me." He smiled, trying to get on Adam's good side. From the doorway, Jord spoke up.
"That was good work, Cass, by the time I got there, Summer and I just had to tell them that Mr. McLean left out back, and they headed directly for the shipping doors." Jord walked toward me and put his arm around my shoulders, shooting AJ a possessive look. I wasn't exactly complaining, but I did wonder where this affection was coming from. I guess I must have given Jord a strange what are you doing? look, because AJ raised his eyebrow at us.
"Hey, I have an idea," AJ blurted out, almost thinking out loud. "Um, we're a little short on security for the next tour, so if you could all help out a little, that would be great! The pay is pretty good, I guess, and we would pay for everything... I'd have to clear it with management first, but I think it would be alright." He looked directly at me, as if I was the only one he was talking to. I turned to AJ.
"That would be a great experience, but what would I do about my job here, and school. And my roomate Summer would have to come too, I can't leave her here alone... and she's in school too...physiotherapy... and no way can we afford to loose a couple of semesters... thanks, but I don't think it would work." I turned to Adam. "I'm going to go make sure everyone cleared out, and that Summer opened up again without a problem." He nodded and I left the room. I could feel everyone's eyes in my back as I left. I can't go, can I? I don't have time, and what about school? I can't just drop everything... and I'd have to spend months with a stuck up teenybopper band. I don't think I could deal... I'll talk to Summer about it.
I had reached FootLocker and walked into the store. Summer was restocking the shoe wall, and heard me come in. "Hey Summ." I said to her as she turned to me. She had a stunned look on her face, as if she was in shock.
"Do you wanna tell me what just went on here? Was that really a mega famous music person in my store room? Were there really dozens of screaming girls outside my store, or did I imagine the whole thing?" she asked. I laughed at her reaction.
"Yes, that was AJ McLean, Backstreet Boy extrodinare," I said sarcastically, "And he wants me and the security crew to go on tour with them to boost their security. I can't go, can I go?" I didn't even know myself. Summer's jaw dropped.
"Whoah, way too much all at once, but of course you can go... if I can too!" She smiled evilly.
"I think we can work something out..." I smiled back at her.
