Chapter 7

"So..." Ms Miller looked at me. "Miss Aspen."

"Cassandra is fine." I interrupted.

"Ok then Cassandra. Why do you think you will be helpful on this tour?" she asked me.

Oh God, I thought Here we go. I smiled, trying to remain calm. "Well, I am curently studying to be a criminal investigator, but as I am between semesters, I am a security co-ordinator at the local mall, as I'm sure you know." She nodded. "I am rather new to this line of work, but being new has its advantages. I am taught the latest technologies involved in security, and my courses include a large amount of psychology and the study of the human mind. I can predict what crowds of people and individuals will do and know how to counteract their actions." I finished and smiled. There was an awkward silence in the limo. Ms Miller broke this silence by turning to Summer.

"So, Summer. Your turn." She smiled. Summer was a little more sure of herself after hearing my answer.

"I have always wanted to be a physiotherapist, and have been studying both sports medicine and physio. My physio comes with a five week training course in massage therapy. I passed this course with the second highest mark in my class and have earned a small scholarship for my marks." Summer finished with a smile, and glanced at me. I smiled and nudged her softly with my elbow. Ms Miller spoke quietly for a minute with the two men beside her, and AJ looked at us.

"That looked good to me, you two." He smiled at me and I felt Summer dig her elbow into my side.

"Woohoo!" she whispered and we both grinned. The lio slowed down and I glanced out the window.

"We're here. You two ladies are on the tour if you can impress the head of security and the massage therapist. The other four guys might wanna meet you too. Good luck!" She then stepped out the door. "AJ will show you to the department offices, won't you AJ?" She then headed into the small building, leaving the three of us there. AJ then turned to me.

"Follow me, ladies!" he said in a mock gentlemanly voice. He lead both Summer and I into the building and past the front desk, into a long hallway. "So many people come with us, we pretty much take over and vacant building we can find. Sometimes we just get an empty lot and work out of our trailers. This used to be an insurance building so we lucked out." He stopped at an unmarked door and knocked on it. Summer and I looked at each other nervously. When he heard an answer from inside, he opened the door, beckoning us to come with him. we stepped into a dimly lit room that had soft classical music playing. There was a massage table to the right of the room and a sitting area to the left. A woman stood up from a wicker chair located there. She was tall and slender, and very graceful. AJ turned to Summer. "Mirander, this is Summer." She smiled at Summer, and motioned for her to sit. Summer did, and as AJ and I left, I saw Miranda take one of Summer's hands, examining it. I turned to AJ as the door closed behind us. He recognized the look on my face and explained simply, "Miranda's quite an individual."

I smiled as AJ lead me toward the security office. I was so nervous, to tell the truth, I really don't remember anything that happened next, all I know is that I must have impressed them, because the next thing I remember is getting a hug from Summer and AJ congradulating us. "Let's go meet the guys then." He smiled.

"I did it?" I asked Summer.

"We both did." She smiled.
