Chapter 9

As I closed the door behind me, AJ grabbed my arm and puled me down the hall into an empty room. It was dark, and I felt along the wall for a light switch. I found one and flipped it, revealing a room full of cardboard boxes. I picked a box and sat down on it, with AJ sitting across from me.

"Ok," I said, looking at him. "What just went on in there?" I asked. He seemed to think for a moment, taking off his sunglasses and fiddling with them.

"Well, Nick was dating this chick a while ago, and he was totally head over heels for her. They were getting to be pretty serious for a while, and he couldn't have been happier. One night, after a show, Nick went backstage to his dressing room, and found her getting pretty hot and heavy with some random guy. Needless to say, his heart was broken. He wouldn't talk for a week, except at shows, he wouldn't let anyone touch him, not even his Mom. He'd been really distant like that until this week, when he started to open up to the four of us guys. He still wouldn't talk to anyone else much. That's wh it was so weird when he let Summer rub his shoulders like that. He looked so relaxed when we left... he hasn't been like that for a month." AJ looked me in the eye. "You have to promise not to tell anyone that I told you. Nick would be pissed as hell."

I was still a little stunned at Nick's story, and curious as to why he reacted to Summer the way that he did, but I knew that I wouldn't tell anyone. I stuck my hand out to AJ and made a hook with my pinkie finger. I grinned, trying to lighten the moment. "I'll even pinkie swear not to tell!" I smiled at the look in AJ's eyes. In all seriousness, he hooked his finger around mine and shook on it. He looked into my eyes, almost as if he were memorizing them. It made me a little uncomfortable, so I looked away, at the floor. I felt his grip on my finger tighten, as his other hand grasped my wrist lightly. It was so quiet in the room, I could hear his breathing get shaky, and I swear he could hear my heart beating.

"Cass..." He spoke, his voice even more rough than normal. He rubbed my wrist in small circles with his thumb. I looked up at him and felt my heart in my throat.

"Yes?" I replied softly. My voice was hardly more than a whisper. He leaned closer to me, Moving his left hand up my arm. I could feel his breath on my neck. I closed my eyes slowly as he whispered softly into my ear.

"Would you mind if..." He drifted off, pulling back a little to look at my face. I opened my eyes, returning his gaze.

"Oh, terribly." I replied softly, with a slight smile. I linked the rest of my fingers with his to join our pinkies. He pulled my hand to his chest and I could feel his heart beat. I leaned into him, placing my other hand at the back of his neck. When I closed my eyes and our lips touched, I let out a soft moan. His mouth was so soft and gentle and his kiss was light at first. He moved his left hand to the small of my back, touching the skin beneath my shirt lightly.

We were still sitting on the boxes, facing each other, until our kiss began to deepen. He slowly stood up, bringing me with him. He held me tightly to his body with his left hand on my back, while he put my left arm over his shoulder. My knees were beginning to give out a little, and I leaned into him more. He broke the kiss only to nuzzle into my neck. He left soft kisses from my ear to my collarbone, while I ran my fingers through his hair.

"Cassandra..." He whispered. I moaned softly in response. "Either we slow down a little now... or go somewhere else..." he mumbled into my neck. I froze, loosening my grip on him. "It's up to you..." he said gently. I didn't want to stop, but I didn't want to go too far either.
