Lesson Information

Method

I have a standard format in which you will learn theory and structure of Music.

Theory is the language of music. Without it there is no effective communication between musicians.

The better that you learn the language the more effective communication you will have.

The better communicator you will become. You will receive more value from each lesson also.

Attempting to learn to play music without learning theory is like

traveling alone in a foreign country without the benefits of

having a guide or knowing the language.

I do not just want to teach you songs. I want to help you to achieve the ability to decipher and learn any song.

Just remembering and reciting without understanding the structure is of little value.

If you do you are certain to forget what you have learned as soon as you stop taking lessons.

I can teach you some of the secrets to sight-reading music. I will not allow you to dictate the format of my teaching.

However I will attempt to gear the lesson to exactly what you want to learn

and continually consider the application in

which you plan to use this skill though.

If you do not want to learn any theory you have come to the wrong place and the wrong instructor.

I have very advanced, High Tech - State of the Art proven methods

that have worked countless times upon both

beginning and advanced students alike.

Scheduling Cancellations

Lessons are normally one time per week for an hour or half hour duration.

If you must miss a lesson you must contact me to postpone that lesson at least 24 hours in advance.

It is your responsibility to contact me.

If you do not you will be charged the full price of the lesson that you miss.

Again it is your responsibility to contact me.

You will always be able to contact me at home,

on cellular phone or by leaving a message on my answering machine or

voice mail when it is operating...

or by some means so that you can leave a message in advance to cancel your lesson and not be charged for it.

If you postpone too many times you must question

whether this is the right time in your life to be receiving music lessons.

We should at that time discuss whether you will continue or discontinue lessons.

Fee

The fee is $30 per hour lesson. That is one lesson per week, for a total of four lessons per month for a total fee of $120 per month. You can not purchase a single lesson. You must take lessons in four lesson units or ' blocks. ' That is one lesson per week for a total of four lessons per month. ( You are not restricted to four lessons per month though. You may take eight. You may take two of the lessons in a single week or double up taking for example one half hour lesson every Tuesday then again every Thursday. You can not split the hour lessons into half hour ( segments ) lessons though. )

Terms Of the Agreement

Your first four lessons must be paid before you begin your first lesson and before the day of your lesson. The next lesson fee will be due on your fourth lesson if you decide to continue taking more lessons. Each new consecutive block lesson fee will be due on your fourth lesson of the block thereafter. I will not schedule any lesson without your advancement of the lesson fee for the lessons before the lesson begins.

Tardiness

I am selling you my experience but charging you for my time. In the event that you are late you will receive only the remaining time that you have left-not a full lesson starting at the time that you arrive. Your lesson will end promptly at the regular time that you scheduled it to end whether you are late or not. It would not be fair to me or others to do it any other way. If your lesson is scheduled at a time adjacent to someone else's time you could cause the next person ( who happened to be on time for their lesson or recording ) to be penalized for your tardiness by them having to wait until you complete your lesson. This individual could have to wait until you complete your lesson because then it would be overlapping into their time.

Emergencies

If I have an emergency and I am tardy or miss your lesson I will make up that lesson plus another free lesson equal to the time that I missed. In essence I will be giving you two lessons in place of that one. That second lesson must be scheduled at a time other than your regular scheduled lesson.

GOD BLESS YOUR NEW ENDEAVOR!

What Is An Emergency?
A natural disaster or an automobile accident which totals your car and you can not leave the scene is an emergency. Use common sense and be reasonable. Making excuses for receiving the consequences of poor planning is not an emergency although it may very well create a difficult situation for you. For a ' real ' emergency I will ' bend over backwards ' to help you. In the years that I have been teaching there has never been an emergency that was not resolved in favor of and to the satisfaction of my student. Use discretion! Do not attempt to take lessons if you are not sincerely ready to add this endeavor to your life. Get your life in order before you take lessons. Don't be afraid to try though.

Courteousness
When your lesson is over please act accordingly. Consider that I have to share my energy with many others, other than just you. I would like to give everyone equally high energy. Each lesson draws a considerable amount of energy from me. For me to consistently put out good quality I must not allow myself to get " burnt out. "

Commitment
I love what I do. I fully believe in myself and my ability to transfer to you in an effective manner the knowledge and skills that I have. I am fully committed such as you must be to continue to study with me. I have a sincere interest that you accelerate and achieve. What better advertisement could I have than past students who have become great musicians.

More On Being Polite
Money should not be thought of as a substitution for integrity and good character. Don't be rude or inconsiderate. Even if you have already forfeited the fee for that day through your own indiscretion please phone even on that day if you know that you will be unable to make it. In that way I will not have to continue to set up and wait for you. Be courteous and call. Once you secure your schedule you will be on calender so you do not have to call. If you do have a question about something that you learned or reach a musical impasse you may also phone me for help.

Final Note
Your dedication and commitment can increase the value of what you receive to an extreme degree. Without those virtues you may be only wasting your time and money. I will definitely tell you so though if it is the case that you are wasting your money. It is not to my advantage to accept payment from someone who will not be improving in proportion to my experience and teaching ability. How can I sell anyone else on studying music from me if when they listen to you, you sound unaccomplished or unpolished. One of my great joys in life is when someone comes to me and says I heard your music student and they are great.

Enjoy your new challenge and be proud of yourself that you are the type of person who appreciates a good challenge and a good education.
