We hear about all the Bostons that need rescued
and we hear of people who would like to have a Boston,
but we don't hear often enough about the wonderful matches we have found due to our rescue efforts.
This page is dedicated to those stories......

SWEET AS SUGAR

About a month ago I began searching for a BT for my daughter who is turning twelve and has demonstrated a sense of responsibility. Through this site, I eventually became acquainted with Noelle from North Carolina, who sent us Forrest. He is a one year old male who had been very sick; in fact,Noelle said that he weighed 6 pounds in January. When we received him at the end of March, he weighed 16 lbs. and was still kind of scrawny. We renamed him Sugar Boy because he didn't know his name. He wasn't housebroken or leash trained. He learned very fast and is beginning his obedience training. He put on a pound or so. We are absolutely thrilled with him. He's a wonderful little person and he tries his best to do everything we want him to do. He's full of love and affection, and we think he's very happy here. We love him very much and we're happy with him. We just wanted to thank everyone again for all their help.

THRILLED IN TENNESSEE

I'm usually just a lurker who enjoys reading everyone else's posts, but I thought I would pass this good news along. About a month ago Linda Trader posted a rescue dog in Woodbury, Tennessee. Since I live just about 20 miles away in Murfreesboro, TN, and had been interested for some time in getting a rescue, I responded. Linda put me in touch with the lady that had him. This lady is working hard to get a humane society going in her county. My husband and I were shocked when we saw the male boston terrier that someone had found. He was very thin, had scrapes and scratches all over, teeth broken off, etc. Of course our hearts went out to him and we took him home. A visit to the vet the next day found that he was full of worms and had probably been in an accident. After shots, antibiotics, and a good diet, he had gained 3 lbs. in 2 weeks when he went back for boosters. We named him Graddy after a family member who recently passed away who was interested in rescue. He is adjusting well and looks forward to his walks. Graddy is a real sweetie but seems to be almost completely deaf. We plan to have him neutered soon. Does anyone have any suggestions about dealing with deaf dogs? How about how to teach him not to hike his leg on things in the house? Just thought I would pass this good news along. Thanks to Linda Trader for all of her hard work with the rescues.

OREO AND ROXIE

Hello...My name is Mary Pat Conte and my name is on your adopt a Boston Terrier sectionof the web page.... You can now remove our name as we were lucky enough tobe chosen for a private adoption due to the Rescue page... We received "Oreo Cookie' on Wednesday and feel very fortunate to become his new "PARENTS"! He's a 13 month old neuted male and gets along famously with our pet Boxer puppy...They are now best friends for life!  Having lived without a Boston in the household for almost 6 months, we had forgotten how intellegient the breed is!  He leads our Boxer, "ROXIE' around and is teaching her!  I am very glad you have such a web site and want to thank you for putting my name on the adoption page.  I guess you can say this is a successful adoption story! We'll keep in touch! Thank you again...Mary Pat and Lucian Conte

SANTA, PLEASE BRING ME A BOSTON FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!

I received the following E-mail just a few weeks ago and forwarded the letter to Susan Hunter who works with the BTCA rescue group:
Disabled woman wants female Boston for companion,as male boston companion of husband. Willing to go to surrounding states to pick it up. I am home most all the time, and have a lot of love to give. Our 4 yr. old male Boston Terrier is wonderful, but from the time we got him at 7 weeks old, he has been my husband's shadow. We kept a female for a breeder for awhile, and he loved it, and she was my best friend. I miss having a "shadow" of my own. It would make my holiday season if you could find me a Boston of my own to love and cherish. Please help if you can. Thank You,
Kriste Mumm

I received an announcement from Kriste during the holidays announcing an addition to their family of their new BT, "TIPPY" , a rescue who arrived on Christmas Eve. What a wonderful Christmas story!!!!!!!!!!!!

DOING GREAT!

I would like to thank Diane Pyle in Illinois for hooking us up with Dexter, a two year old male Boston who is blind in one eye. After the initial round of dog fights and other socialization problems it seems like he has been with us for ever. He has a great personality. He's not one for sharing but is getting better all the time. We have three other Bostons and a Border collie. Thank You BT rescue,
Larry & Kieth Wagner Stratton
