PART V

“Raticate! Drowzee!” commanded Butch and Cassidy to their own Pokemon. “GO!”

Cassidy laughed. “Do you two fakes actually think you can beat us?”

“Actually, yes.” Snapped Jessie. She turned to her three Pokemon. “Arbok, Lickitung, Nidorina! Show them who the real fakes are!”

“We have a clear advantage.” Butch added. “You don’t stand a chance.”

“Oh yeah?” said James. “Weezing! Victreebel! Nidorino! CHARGE!”

“Don’t forget Meowth!” said Meowth, who started the battle by using his slash attack on Raticate.

“Raticate! Hyper fang attack, now!” Cassidy commanded.

But the Raticate was way too slow. Meowth quickly dodged the oncoming attack.

“Nya, nya!” He teased and stuck his tongue out at the angry Raticate.

Jessie’s Arbok had an easy first move as well. The Drowzee had been paralyzed by Arbok’s glare attack.

Now, it was James’ turn.

“All right, Victreebel! Use your razor le—”

Victreebel immediately chomped down on James’ head.

“Embarassing…” groaned Jessie.

Cassidy and Butch laughed so hard that their sides began to hurt.

“Weezing, smog attack now!” James commanded once he had his head free.

Drowzee couldn’t move because it was paralyzed.

However, it could still use its psychic attacks, which were mental, not physical.

Weezing went down in one hit.

“Score one for the Boss’ favorites!” shouted Cassidy.

Jessie frowned, then looked past Cassidy and smiled.

“The score’s tied.” She said, pointing.

Cassidy and Butch turned to see what she was talking about.

Meowth was dragging the defeated Raticate by its tail.

“Oh no!” Cassidy cried. “Raticate!”

“Never hold a battle between a cat and a rat.” Meowth said, smiling. “It’s a little too obvious who would win.”

Frustrated, Butch turned to Drowzee.

“Drowzee, use your psywave attack! Wipe out all of their Pokemon!”

A piercing scream filled the air as Drowzee used psywave. After a few seconds, all of Jessie and James’ Pokemon fell to the ground.

All of their Pokemon, except Nidorino and Nidorina.

“What…what are they doing?”

Nidorino and Nidorina stood facing opposite directions. Their eyes were glowing. Everyone watched, speechless, too afraid to even breathe.

Suddenly, the earth beneath them began to shake.

“Nidorino!” cried Nidorino.

“Nidorina!” cried Nidorina.

BOOM! Everything seemed to explode at once. Dirt and rock filled the air, and Jessie, James, Butch, Cassidy, Meowth, and the other Pokemon could hardly move.

Including Drowzee, who had been defeated.

When the debris in the air settled, Nidorino and Nidorina were nowhere to be seen.

In the spot where they were last seen stood a Nidoking and Nidoqueen.

“Whoa…”

Jessie and James returned their newly evolved Pokemon to their pokeballs.

“I finally figured it out.” Said Meowth. “They evolved, but used an earthquake attack at the same time.”

“Thank you, Mr. Information.” Said Jessie. “But I’m all covered with dirt!”

“Dat’s okay. We won ‘da battle!”

“Where are Butch and Cassidy? Asked James.

“They must have blasted off.” Replied Jessie.

“Anyway, take a look at what they left behind!”

A very handsome Arcanine stood in a nearby cage.
