I Do
It had been 2 years since Jessie, James and Meowth decided to leave Team Rocket to start brand new lives. Now, they live together in an apartment looking over Cerulean City.
I know what you’re thinking, you’re thinking that Jessie and James are in love and they’ve started to build up a relationship. But no.
You see, they’ve both had small flings with other people and it’s never really turned into anything serious.
Except, for these past few months, James has started to have these feelings towards his teammate. He couldn’t tell her, God, no of course he couldn’t.
Not since she started seeing Freddie.
Oh, you don’t know about Freddie? Well, you see it’s like this…um…let me start from the very beginning:
Jessie came through front door, slammed it and sat on the couch in a huff.
“Bad day?” James chirped, not taking eye off the book he was engrossed in.
“The worst,” replied Jessie, now feeling rather sad, “Stewart dumped me today, he said ‘he was looking for something serious’ I mean what a jerk!”
James looked up. Clearly Jessie wasn’t in the best of moods.
“C’mon Jess, he’s not worth someone as wonderful as you. There’s someone out there with your name on them, you just have to find them.” He reassured along with a pat on the back.
“Well, I hope this is that person…” She held up a piece of paper with what looked like a phone number on it.
“That’s one of Stewart’s mates.” She explained, “I hope he’s hot!”
James rolled his eyes, he wasn’t worried, it’s just going to be another small fling then all this will be forgotten in a 2 weeks.
2 YEARS LATER
James was beginning to despise that bloody front door.
Every time Jessie came through it from seeing Freddie, that black-haired, brown-eyed idiot, she would say things like: “Oh God, Freddie is amazing!” or “Freddie is the best!”
He was getting rather sick of it, every week the same very satisfied woman through the door.
Then, one day, Jessie came through all quiet and rather out of character. She sat down on the couch and stared at the floor.
‘They’ve broken up… that’s good news!’ James thought to himself
“Jess, what’s wrong?” he asked sitting next to her.
“You don’t have tuxedo, do you James?” she surprisingly replied, he raised an eyebrow at her.
“Um…no…why would I need one?”
Jessie’s head turned to him with a huge, sly grin plastered on it.
“Because you’re invited to my wedding! Freddie proposed to me today! I’m getting married!!!”
She jumped up and punched the air whilst she ran into her room.
James sat there, stunned.
Married?
‘But, that’s not good news…’
The months flew by as preparations began for, what Jessie liked to call: ‘The Wedding Of The Century’, an event James pretended to be really excited for.
And now, here he was outside the little church building where the wedding was taking place, either side of the entrance were two little tents for the bride and groom to get ready in.
Meowth, in his cute little miniature tux, marched out of Jessie’s tent and nudged James’ leg.
“Freddie’s a very lucky guy!” he whispered as he entered the church.
James couldn’t just standby and let this happen, he loved Jessie and always had done. It was stupid of him to not tell her but that was exactly what he was going to do now. Confess his love.
He took a deep breath and entered.
James stood aghast as he saw his love idol twirl in a satin, snow-white gown with a lace veil that glittered in the light.
Jessie stopped and looked at James with a smile.
“Oh my God, Jessie, you’re beautiful.” He began, trying to find the right words.
“Why, thank you James!” giggled Jessie, “I still have some make up to do though.”
She turned to her mirror and started to apply mascara.
This was it.
“Um…Jess…there’s something I…really have to tell you.”
“Oh, really? What is it?”
“I…you, you can’t…. Don’t marry him.”
Jessie paused; she slowly turned to face James.
“What?”
“Don’t marry Freddie, he won’t love you as much as I do. I love you Jessica, I always have. I know that it’s stupid telling you this on today of all days but I really could not see you walk down that aisle knowing I may never be with you. Please…you can’t.”
Jessie couldn’t believe her ears. Was this really happening?
“James, I had no idea you felt this way, why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
James felt the tears coming.
“If…if I had told you, I knew you would never have felt the same way and…I couldn’t live…with such…pain…”
He couldn’t take it any more; he sickened, turned and ran, not giving Jessie much time to say anything else.
Her mind was a jumble, Freddie was waiting to be married to her today, but James couldn’t bear that, oh, what was she to do?
A few minutes later, Jessie was walking down the aisle, Freddie at the end smiling at his future wife and the guests standing beside her.
She arrived at the altar and smiled back at him, but she still didn’t know what she was going to do, if she married, she’d get the man of her dreams, or had James been him all along?
The preist began the service.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the harmonious reunion of these two souls.”
As he continued, Jessie continued look at Freddie, she looked deep into his green eyes…wait a minute, he doesn’t have green eyes! No, Freddie has beautiful brown eyes to match his ebony black hair. Except, now his hair isn’t black, it’s blue. And it’s long.
‘Oh my God…’
She wasn’t looking at Freddie anymore, she was seeing James! James was standing there staring back at her.
‘Don’t you see?’ Jessie thought to herself. ‘You’re brain says “Go” but your heart says “No”.’
She came back into reality.
“If anyone present knows of a reason why these two shall not be joined in holy matrimony, let them speak now, or forever hold their peace.” The Priest asked.
Silence shrouded the room. Jessie eyed the door, James wasn’t there.
She had made her mind up on what she wanted, and her decision comes into affect…now.
Off she ran down the aisle towards the door, there were gasps of the crowd and she heard Freddie call her name.
She tripped over but promptly got back up again and charged through the doors.
Jessie knew exactly where James would be; it was just a matter of getting there.
She turned a few heads on the streets as she ran to her destination, you don’t see brides running down streets everyday.
She ran into the park and through the woods, just a little further…
And there he was.
Sitting at the side of a lake in a small clearing sat James, he watched the sun set over the horizon and it was a spectacular sight. Then he saw Jessie which was an even better one! He stood up and walked towards her.
“Jessie? What are you doing here? What about Freddie?” James asked, holding her hands.
“Shh, James. I realised that Freddie isn’t my prince that would sweep me off my feet, I have had feelings for someone else.” She smiled as she put her arms around her best friend.
His eyes widened.
“Oh…who?”
“I think you know James…”
“I think I know too but I’ve been really wrong about this stuff in the past.”
Jessie giggled, then moved in and kissed him softly on the lips.
James kissed her back and brought her in closer, they soon parted and were both in a flutter.
“My prince…my soul mate…my friend…”
They both kissed again and lived happily ever after.
Bye bye all you nice people! Peace out!
