Most people think that because I was so young I don't remember my mother, Miyamoto or her disappearance, but I do. I'll never forget the day my mother left.
Mommy woke me up and kissed me on the cheek.
"Good morning sweety!" she said in a cheerful voice. She was wearing her Team Rocket uniform and beautiful round earrings. Mommy told me she had to get me ready earlier than usual today, I didn't ask why. I went to the bathroom and when I came back I saw Mommy had layed out my orange sleeveless dress on my bed, this is when I knew something was going on, I only wore my only nice dress on special occasions. Mommy helped me put on the dress and put my hair into pigtails with lavender ribbons. I could tell Mommy was upset about something, but she was trying to hide it from me. Mommy and I walked into the kitchen, Daddy was sitting at the table, "Good morning Jessie!" he said with a smile, "Good morning Daddy," I said.
Mommy made snowgasboard for breakfast. I tried to eat but I could tell by the way my parents were looking at me and each other that something was wrong. When I was done with my breakfast Mommy and Daddy said there was something they had to tell me, I had a feeling of absolute dread and fear. "Honey I have to go on a trip to a place called the Andes Mountains to search for a Pokemon. I'll try to come home as soon as I can, but I may be gone for quite a while." I burst into tears the moment my mother said this. I had a horrible feeling that she wouldn't come back for a very long time if ever.
"Mommy, please don't go!" I screamed as I hugged her.
"Oh Jessie honey please don't cry!" Mommy said looking like she might start crying too.
"Mommy don't leave me!" I cried out as Daddy came over and hugged us both.
"We need you to be brave Jessie." Daddy said as he stroked my hair.
"I don't want you to leave Mommy! I want you to stay here with me and Daddy!" I screamed as tears rolled down my cheeks. Mommy held me tighter.
"That's what I want too honey. I'm going to bring pictures of you and of your daddy with me to the mountains, I'll look at those pictures every night and think of you," she said.
Mommy took a camera from the counter and said "We haven't taken any pictures of you lately so I need to take one now." I couldn't stop crying, "Won't you please smile for Mommy?" my mother said as she was about to take the picture. I just couldn't smile so Mommy ended up taking a picture of me crying my eyes out. It was time for Mommy to leave so we all walked outside together. Daddy kissed Mommy and told her he loved her.
"I love yo too," she said to him with a sad smile. My mother hugged me and said, "Be a good girl for your daddy."
I nodded and Daddy said, "Don't worry I'll take good care of her."
"I know you will," said Mommy.
My lip began to quiver. "Mommy promise me you'll come back," I said as I looked into my mother's eyes.
"I promise I'll come back to you," she said, and I hugged her. "I need to go now," Mommy said with a sigh, she turned to my father and told him "Goodbye my love."
He smiled back at her and said, "Goodbye , I'll love you forever."
Mommy turned to me and said "Goodbye my beautiful girl."
"Goodbye Mommy," I said, feeling my heart breaking.
My mother turned and began to walk away."Goodbye Mommy! I love you!" I yelled as I waved to her. She turned for just a second, blew me a kiss and walked away.
Several weeks went by and still my mother had not returned. I would be starting preschool soon, I remember I told Daddy I wouldn't go until Mommy came back home. I could tell Daddy missed Mommy and was worried about her. One morning Daddy woke me up, and he seemed sad and dazed.
"Good morning Daddy," I said wondering what was wrong. My father said "Jessie honey, there's no easy way to tell you this, your mother is dead."
Tears ran down his cheeks. I was devastated and immediatly started to cry too as Daddy hugged me. That was the first time I'd ever seen my father cry.
I couldn't sleep that night, so for hours I lay in bed thinking about my mother. Daddy had explained to me that there was an avalanche in the mountains and that was what killed my mother. I cried rivers for her. I couldn't believe she wasn't coming back. I got out of bed and walked to my parents' bedroom. I stood silently at the doorway. My father was sitting on the edge of the bed, he was crying hysterically.
"My beloved Miyamoto, how can I go on without you?" he moaned.
I felt like crying but I didn't because I knew I wouldn't ever be able to stop. I walked back to my room and sat on my bed as I looked out my window. Trying to hold back my tears, I said, "Mommy promised me she would come back and I know she would never break a promise! I don't care what any one says, I know she'll come back! She made a promise! She has to come back!" I couldn't hold my tears back any longer, " Mommy I'll wait for you forever !" I vowed.
I was convinced my mother would someday return. Every night I would wait for hours, looking out my window hoping my mother would come home at long last, but she never did. A few years after my mother left my father became ill and died. Daddy had always tried to be strong for me, and I loved him. When my father passed away, I finally realized that my mother wasn't coming back. The pain of losing my parents has never gone away, but as time passed I realized that in a way my parents will always be with me. Mommy and Daddy couldn't give me much, but they always gave me love.
I'll never forget my beloved mother, Miyamoto.
